Do you ever substantiate charges, or do jusat throw them hoping that if you say it enough people will just accept it?

Carter should NEVER have honoured the grave of a terrorist - full stop.

Galatian: Carter did the Christian thing, and of course, some people find that offensive.

Priscilla Ann: If Reagan or Bush had paid their respects, it would have been considered "the Christian thing to do".
Since when is stopping by a grave Christian or non-Christian? That is absurd. There was nothing Christian about it, and there was nothing non-Christian. Christians know that there is nothing there but a body. It simply makes no difference. It was a political act. It wasn't Christian.

Having said that, it was a dumb thing to do. At least they weren't on a mission representing this country. Unfortunately, many can't separate that. It was a bad move. Arafat was a murderer and an instigator. The world is better off. The only bad thing is that it didn't happen 30 years ago.

I don't find it offensive that Carter, the second worse President of the USA behind Clinton, the worst, visited the grave of Arafat. Afterall, both Carter and Arafat won the Nobel Peace Prize. And Arafat is the first Egyptian to be head of a non-existent Arab state funded by Europeans. Also, Arafat is the first major Egyptian to die of aids and the first major Egyptian to be more or less openly bi-sexual or homosexual. Carter did the right thing.
Neither Carter nor Clinton are even CLOSE to being the worst President. Come on, CMG: you know better than that...........

Also, I would really like to see the proof for the second-to-the-last sentence you made.

You need to do some research. I can name two that were worse than any on this list. But that is not the topic of this discussion, so perhaps we should take this to the history forum.

Carter is a laugh. He cost us dearly in Iran with his policy of removing the Shah. If he wants to visit a grave and leave flowers, that is better than if he wants to make another anti-American speech to his friends in Europe.

As for Arafat's cause of death, I wonder if the left is saying that Arafat was not a homosexual or if there is something wrong with being a homosexual or if it is not a tragedy that homosexuals are dying of aids right and left? For years, we have heard press reports that the Egyptian was a homosexual and now we have reports from Victor Mordecai that all of Israel believes that the Egyptian died of aids.

Of course, the Europeans love the Egyptian so we are going to hear from them about Carter didn't do enough for the Egyptian. Is there any nazi that a European or a liberal won't stand up for?

Even the liberal Democrats think Arafat died of aids. Here is NewsMax on the New York Times "Friday, Nov. 12, 2004 9:00 a.m. EST
N.Y. Times Suggests Arafat Died of AIDS

"The New York Times broke the media silence on the cause of Arafat's death Friday by suggesting the terrorist leader may have died of AIDS."

It matters in this case because of Arab hypocrisy. No matter how widespread the practice is behind closed doors, out in the open it is treated with utmost severity. Egyptians receive all but life in prison for a conviction. If the Arab leader died of aids because of what he did with his bodyguards for years, then he is no longer an object of admiration but consternation. That is the reason for the ongoing coverup. It is possible that the Arabs implored Carter to visit the grave and that he obliged.

No one here is arguing about how Arafat died.

What I question in making statements based on what is still conjrcture. If and when it is proven Arafat died of AIDS the news can then be evaluated for its relevance to the story.

Well, read what the New York Times says. I don't think that you can call it conjecture. It is now a case of full-blown coverup. Personally, I like hypocrisy of all types. It lends a human element to the fiercest enemies. Afterall, we are highly civilized nowadays and we say, "Not that there is anything wrong with that."

The guy was a nazi; it is only natural that he have a wierd personal life. Do you think that he only murdered from 9 to 5? Of course, not! That's a rhetorical question. He murdered all the time day and night.

Actually - here is the Times "hint at AIDS" from Nov 12 in the article you cited:

Then the Times noted the AIDS connection: "But low platelet counts in the blood are a common finding in a wide range of afflictions, including severe infections, liver disease, end stage cancer and even AIDS."
In that reagrd the Times also "hints at" Severe infections, liver disease, and end stage cancer.

The man was evil enough with guessing at the way he died. When it comes out, either way, then it becomes a possibly valid point, until then we are guessing.

Who said anything about his sexual orientation? Again, I would love to see the proof for this. Also, I think you should do some research on AIDS, as you will find that there are more heterosexuals dying of this disease now than at any time in the past. Do a google search on AIDS deaths on the continent of Africa.

That's funny: I don't remember bringing up this subject. To which nazi are you referring, since YOU are the one who introduced this subject to the discussion?

"The New York Times broke the media silence on the cause of Arafat's death Friday by suggesting the terrorist leader may have died of AIDS."
From the article you provided:
The spokesman for the French hospital where Arafat died said that officials would not release any tests, detail the cause of death, or even acknowledge whether had an autopsy had been conducted.
The Times noted that a tight circle of aides to Arafat had access to him and his doctors. They have kept a tight lid on details of his health and death.
I have nothing but indifference to Yassar Arafat, and I am probably more pro-Israel than you are. But I certainly wouldn't speculate about his death, or his sexual orientation. At this point, it is a rather moot point.

Do you think it was wrong of Carter to visit the grave? I have such low expectations of Carter that I think that it is good to keep him occupied and moving around. BTW, what do you think that Arafat's 72 will be like?
