Exchange Eligability for Vets

In the last few months, the DoD Exchange Systems (AAFES, Navy, and Marine) and the Coast Guard Exchange have opened up their websites to verified eligible (must have an Honorable Discharge) vets, not just retirees. To sign up got to VetVerify.org. A pdf or jpeg of your DD-214 is required.

Just the web sites, which with no sales tax and free shipping for orders over 50 bucks is a pretty good deal. I've shopped various non-Exchange sites for service related tchotchkes. And this system seems to have the best prices. Then you can buy every thing from a lap top to CG logo slippers.
Would that be in-store shopping - or just catalog shopping?

They typically have very good prices on furniture. My wife and I always look when we are at the PX, but when it comes time to buy we never think about the exchange... unfortunately.

I just tried to register, but I get an error message that I am not in DEERS. I filled the online service request form with the VA to add me in the system. Thank you for the heads up on this.

R, follow the link above. Though before you do scan your DD-214 to make a pdf file copy of it.
I did, but there was no option to upload my DD-214. I had to click on another link and add my personal information, including my SSAN. The system came back saying that my records were not found. It provided another link so I can be added to the DEERS database. I went to that link and made my request. That's where VetVerify gets all their data. I had this problem a number of years back when I bought my home using a VA loan. I had to submit a request to the National Archives since my records were destroyed in a fire at the VA data records storage center in St. Louis.

Is it possible to call the PX with an 800 number - not sure if they put that info on the web - but at least its a possibility

PS - I ETS about 2 weeks AFTER the St Louis Fire.

Interesting. I am in the system, but still had to upload my dd-214 (my 201 file was one of those destroyed in the St. Louis archive fire). I guess being in the system doesn't mean much. :)

I have my DD-214 now. I did that years ago. Now I am just waiting for my request for VetVerify to be uploaded by the VA. They sent me a confirmation email.

I think this is a step in the right direction. I know a while back there was discussion for having honorably discharged vets able to get an ID that would allow them access to military installations and shopping on post. Did that ever happen?

Sounds like a great deal. I would order one, but I probably will be the only person in the Orlando, FL area with a snowblower.

Well PHASE II
&
Effective 1 Jan 20 SM with 0% will be able to shop in a brick and mortar PX, BX, NEX, MCX,& CGX!

Your VA card (scanable) apparently will be used to enter any military base to utilize the PX AND the Comissary.
At least in the commisary - if you use a credit card- there wll be a small admin charge; unless you use the PX credit card
then there is no extra charge.

Some wil say that its no big deal. BUT when you do shop at a PX (esp at a small base ) the more sales they have
the more items that PX can stock. In addition - profits go to the MWR which benefites our GI's

Also available will be bowling centers, movies theaters, and ect. .
