Both, I guess. Whatever you think is genuine exorcism.Originally posted by ASLANSPAL:
Would this be anything like what Bob Larson does
or the so called deliverence movement?
or are you talking about a traditional RCC
exorcism, or both?
That is totally fascinating just for peace ..haveOriginally posted by just-want-peace:
My wife & I recently moved into a new house that was owned previously by a 3 time widow.
Two husbands died, and one committed suicide. This house was decorated to the EXTREME oriental style.
I came over to the house a week or so before we moved in and I went through the house and "exorcised" any evil spirits that may have found comfort there.
The history here, and the extreme "orientalness" had me thinking that there just may be some supernatural evil forces at play & I sure didn't want them here when we moved in.
After the "exorcism" and giving God free reign, I didn't feel any massive wave of relief, but I sure did feel much more at ease about the whole deal.
I asked God to fill this property with his love so strong that any evil forces would be positively repelled if they attempted to encroach.
So obviously I do believe that exorcisms are valid today, but unfortunately it's not very PC to admit that evil spirits actually exist. Specially when they are now explained as "mental problems, bad environmental influences, emotional problems, heredity, low self esteem" etc., etc.
Anything but the truth!
You are more in need of exorcising the baloney within you.Originally posted by just-want-peace:

I agree with that, but the word exorcism sounds so Catholic? Kinda like you exercise the demons until they are too week to fight. But everyone know what exercise does if you do it long enough. I for one don't want a Arnold Schwarzenegger demon floating around my house!Originally posted by Marcia:
An exorcism is a ritual or a technique.
This is a question that I ask some of my more "charismatic" christian friends. Several of them tell I have to "speak" to demons and command them to leave in "the Name of Jesus". My reply is why do I need to speak to demons? Shouldn't I speak (and pray!) to God instead? I rather speak to God than to a demon anyway. I have nothing to say to a demons. Apparently sokme of my friends believe that God has given us power over demons and that we can command them "in the Name of Jesus" and demons MUST obey us. Then I ask my friends if this is true then why do demons continue to come back into our lives?Originally posted by chipsgirl:
If you pray for protection from the evil shouldn't that be enough?
