How's this for hijackin' a thread? :D
According to a news report in the Toronto Star, since the implementation of the bill, gang-related homicides have dropped, deaths from guns are at its lowest level since 1961, and as Solicitor General Wayne Easter said, "The more important aspect of the firearms registry at the moment is the greater ability, with more registered guns, it gives the national weapons enforcement-support teams a greater ability to find illegal guns and stolen and missing guns. That's the success story of the firearms registry system so far."

So, apparently something is working north of the border. Let's bring it on down here, eh?

Only if they can pry it from my cold dead fingers.

i might have to start a thread that says >>>
can a person be for gun control and still be a Christian? (just kidding)
but if i was a betting man, i would say very few Christians are for gun control

</font>[/QUOTE]Again, you're confusing the issue. I'm not trying to ban guns - I'm just saying that they should be all registered. The two can co-exist, just as cars are both registered and legal.

Nope. My father owns about 150 of them, though (he's a collector). Again, I don't have a problem with guns in and of themselves. I just think that having them registered would be a sound idea.

Since guns are not mentioned in the Bible, I suppose that Christians can be on either side and be doctrinally okay. My desire for the registering of guns is socially and politically motivated, not religiously so.

I would imagine that more Christians in this world are for gun control than those who aren't. American Baptists would tend to go the other way, but worldwide Christianity in general would more than likely side with me on the issue.

The British at Lexington and Concord were there for two purposes: arrest Sam Adams and John Hancock, and confiscate weapons and ammo.

Undoubtedly more than you think I do. Isn't the NRA and your whole line of argument a red herring?

Here's a quotation from a conservative: "I am a member of the NRA and proud of it."

One of the funniest things I've seen is that one of the member benefits for the NRA is "$10,000 in Hunter's Accident (A,D, & D) insurance."

That's either ridiculous or absurd. Take your pick.
