Facing the End of Constitutional Democracy

Impeach Now by Paul Craig Roberts

Unless Congress immediately impeaches Bush and Cheney, a year from now the US could be a dictatorial police state at war with Iran.

Bush has put in place all the necessary measures for dictatorship in the form of "executive orders" that are triggered whenever Bush declares a national emergency. Recent statements by Homeland Security Chief Michael Chertoff, former Republican senator Rick Santorum and others suggest that Americans might expect a series of staged, or false flag, "terrorist" events in the near future.

Many attentive people believe that the reason the Bush administration will not bow to expert advice and public opinion and begin withdrawing US troops from Iraq is that the administration intends to rescue its unpopular position with false flag operations that can be used to expand the war to Iran.

Too much is going wrong for the Bush administration: the failure of its Middle East wars, Republican senators jumping ship, Turkish troops massed on northern Iraq's border poised for an invasion to deal with Kurds, and a majority of Americans favoring the impeachment of Cheney and a near-majority favoring Bush's impeachment. The Bush administration desperately needs dramatic events to scare the American people and the Congress back in line with the militarist-police state that Bush and Cheney have fostered.

The whole op is silly but this portion is just blantantly false.

"A new American Research Group national survey of 1,100 adults (conducted 7/3 through 7/5) finds:

* 31% of approve of "President George W. Bush commuting the 30-month prison sentence of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby while leaving intact Mr. Libby's conviction for perjury and obstruction of justice in the CIA leak case;" 64% disapprove.

* 11% favor a complete presidential pardon for Libby; 84% oppose.

* 45% favor "the US House of Representatives beginning impeachment proceedings against President George W. Bush;" 46% oppose.

* 54% favor "US House of Representatives beginning impeachment proceedings against Vice President Dick Cheney;" 40% oppose. (Source: http://www.pollster.com/blogs/poll_arg_pardonimpeachment.php )

Roberts is a well known Bush hater, who doesn't hesitate to fear monger and lie to express his hate.

Who is this group?
American Research Group

What questions were asked?

"Do you favor or oppose the US House of Representatives beginning impeachment proceedings against President George W. Bush?" (Source: http://www.americanresearchgroup.com/)

I do not know one person who believes such garbage.

Apply both hands to the rock and strenuously push up and to the side.

Here's the neoconservative Breitbart discussing it.

Here's HumanEvents (conservative mag) focusing on a different survey with similar, though not as high, results.

Here's the neoconservative Townhall commenting on that survey as well.

Paul Craig Roberts was the Assistant Secretary of Treasury during the Reagan administration and earned the nickname of "The Father of Reagonomics". He would be just another conservative that makes you neoconservatives so uncomfortable and you have no argument accept to impugn his character.

Conservative or liberal. Doesn't matter. I know nothing of his "character". That doesn't matter either.

He's a Bush hater and the venom and fear mongering of his diatribes reflect nothing else.

I'm uncomfortable with anyone who's life is dominated by uncontrollable hate.

Carpro...I don't typically see this tactic used in political debates as much as in debating with sodomites. A Christian says repent of this wickedness and they say you hate us :tear:. I suspect this tactic is an off-shoot of political correct Marxism, where one who disagrees with your position and you can not argue with him on the issues, you just call them a "hater" in an attempt to nullify their positions, while never having to address the actual positions.

Let me try it...

Carpro doesn't like Paul Craig Roberts and like-minded conservatives because of his uncontrollable hate.

...I guess it works, but it sure doesn't lead to anything resembling intelligent dialogue and it sounds quite emotional and whiny.

Not possible.

I don't hate Bush nor anyone else.

But I do agree that Roberts' writings are emotional and whiny. Hate is a strong emotion.

That's swell! Will you be commenting on any of the content of the OP any time soon or will you just be continuing on your hate/love focus of Mr. Roberts?

Hmmm. Interesting. Yet you provide no evidence of such.

Roberts does it for me.

All one has to to is read it. It's evident that it is brimming over with hate.

First, there never has been a "Constitutional Democracy" in the United States. It's a REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC.

Second, Paul Craig Roberts is an idiot.
