Fact or Faked? Women & Divorcees Can Pastor SBC & Some IFB Churches

Various Independent Fundamental Baptists have agreed to sign on with The Southern Baptist Convention in Okaying a resolution overturning centuries old doctrines and giving women and divorced/remarried individuals the ability to be pastors of churches. The signing of the "Resolution of Reconciliation" is said to be nothing short of a miracle. Females and divorcees who have felt they have been put outside the wall are likening this to God breaking down the walls of Jericho. One ex-pastor said, "Now we can worship inside the camp!" But while some view this as walls crashing down, others predict that one result will be a parting within the Baptist faith like Moses parting the Red Sea. It is too early to get remarks from those who pastor churches in the SBC because of the secrecy surrounding this decision, the speed with which it was adopted, and the fact that the SBC is the largest denomination in the U.S......

I would wonder why we are yet again for the billionth time discussing all the restrictions placed on women and never talking about what the men are supposed to be doing let alone talking about if the men are fulfilling their roles at all.

That's a subject that I've never seen discussed on any internet forum in over a decade.

Are the Christian men in the pulpit and out of the pulpit doing what they are supposed to be doing?

P.S. I have to wonder about posts like this coming from a member who has made a very inappropriate joke about Eve's breasts on the BB.

P.S.S. We all know that this scenario is never going to come to pass. It's like asking "what would you do if you woke up and read in the paper that a 50-foot-tall purple duck was walking down the road." It isn't going to happen. And all threads like this do is open the floodgates for the forum men to pile up on and discuss how women are unfit for the the job of pastor. It's been discussed ad nausem. We get it.

I am new to this forum. Actually this is the first forum of any type that I have joined. I have less than 400 posts. I mention these things to say that I was not aware that this subject has been very overdone. This subject came to my mind when domestic violence was being discussed elsewhere on BB. It seemed to me that several people would rather have someone be beaten and otherwise abused because other, protective actions threatened their doctrine. As far as discussing restrictions placed on women,I believe those restrictions are not Biblical restrictions. Hand in hand with that, I believe Christians should function according to our gifts, not our gender. Teaching the status quo for centuries has left women frustrated and angry, and men defeated and confused. It has had the largest impact in the form of justifying every type of abuse under the protective umbrella of, "Well, take it up with God. He made the rules". The joke was about men, not Eve's breasts. I thought it was funny without being offensive. I did kinda notice that you seemed grouchy but wasn't going to comment on it until you did. (PMS)? [Just like a man!!]. JUST Kidding! Sorry you didn't sleep last night. Same here. Get Tired of being tired all the time. Oh, I don't expect things will change as long as men are in charge,and as long as we will not honestly search out the whole council of God in the scriptures.

Don't know if that is a question or your first reaction. To the question: No. It is fake. A Partial, Post Tribulation, Au-millennial, Second Stage, Invisible Rapture will occur before anything even remotely resembling such an agreement would ever be proposed in secret, as a note on a napkin, at any halfway official pot luck dinner, during a discussion concerning when the next SBC meeting will take place.

Paul was dealing with things in a specific cultural setting. Rome was experiencing a severe backlash from a time when Roman women had the same rights as men and had abused those rights, just as men tend to do. Women could not be perceived as having many rights, but especially no authority over men. He new that in Christ there are no distinctions.
Any inequality was a result of Adam and Eve sinning. It seems that we have worked hard at reversing all things connected with the aftermath of sin except the "Women's Issue". Work continues in: Making agriculture as easy as possible (herbicides, pesticides, fertilizer, genetics). Extending our life span and every kind of procedure to make life better. All but eliminating 'pain in childbirth'. But men won't work at restoring the equality both male and female were created to share. Whenever we can actually flesh out Kingdom principles we should do so. Otherwise there is no scriptural basis for abolishing slavery, class, age and racial differences,etc.

I would add that the word translated 'man' here is : Original: εἴ τις
- Transliteration: Ei tis
- Phonetic: i tis
- Definition:
1. whoever, whatever

This word is not one that means male. It is frequently translated as : any, whoever, some and other neutral words. Many times when it is translated 'man' it is obviously in a context that can mean man or woman :Romans 8:9 ICor. 3:12 & 17 Rom 11:17 Rom 13:9 1Tim 1:10 1Tim 5:4
