That is so true. I remember once when I was preaching at had not finished the sermon and had not started the invitation yet a young man stood there until I was finished. He stood in middle of the front of the church in front of the pulpit. I did not quite know what to do. When I gave the invitation and invited people to come forward he told me why he came forward. He received Christ that day.

On another occasion a lady came forward and said to me that she had made the decision on Monday and prayed that she would have the courage to make her decision known.

I am sure that if we were to meet in person we could have sweet fellowship even though we don't cross our t's and dot our i's exactly the same way.

I think it is a shame that all of the varying sides of 'Baptist fundamentalism' have to shoot at each other instead of at our common enemy.

At one time everyone who did not agree with me was my enemy and they were not right with God. It took me a 9 year stint on the mission field to learn who my real Enemy was. He wasn't the Charismatic missionary or the Reformed Presbyterian missionary who lived down the street from me in Mexico. After fellowshipping with them (more on the basis that we were all Americans than the fact that we were all believers) and after experiencing the attacks of the REAL Enemy on the mission field I came to learn that just because a brother does not part his hair on the same side I do does not make him an enemy of God.

Someday we are all (speaking of the truly born-again) going to Heaven and we will get along fine there. The only reason we cannot do that NOW is the old corrupt rotten flesh and Satan, who delights in causing division and warfare amongst God's children.

It has been my privilege to fellowship with believers from Africa who swayed and danced as they praised God to the beat of drums, with deaf folks who silently praised God with their hands, with Mexican folks who sang to the accompaniment of guitars, accordions and drums, to sit under the preaching of various men of God who proclaimed the Gospel of Christ although they were not Baptists. I found out that I can experience "Heaven on earth" in the presence of those with whom I may not agree entirely on non-essentials. (That is- as long as they did not make a big deal out of the differences.)

Maybe someday you also can learn to lay aside your non-Biblical prejudices and learn to experience "Heaven on Earth" in the fellowship of other believers who are "not of your fold".

Mex, respectfully, did you read my first reply? Did you see that I said that these are preferences, not scripture? Apparently there are some that focus on the differences a lot more than I have or ever will. My son goes to an evangelical free church and plays drums in the praise band. I don't agree with having a praise band in a church, but that is HIS preference, and it has nothing to do with his salvation or his amazing soul-winning efforts. So yes, I am sure we could have sweet communion as Christian brothers and sisters....I am not sure about the other person who spits venom at me. (not you, Tiny, it is rbell that lashes out with sarcasm and ugliness at me every time I enter a conversation - he thinks that his way of thinking is the only way - or maybe it is a gender issue? That anger comes from guilt or somewhere sad)

I wouldn't be a student at Liberty if I couldn't get along with people who work in the newer versions of the Bible. I just can't use them - they are, in my opinion, watered down and empty. The rich poetry and flow of the King James inspires me to study more and to seek God's lessons. And it is wonderful that the professors at Liberty smile and accept and even cheer my explanation of why I use the KJV exclusively - they don't ridicule me or make snide comments. And I have straight "A"s thus far, so the fact that I use it exclusively doesn't sway their judgment.

As I said, if we take our eyes off of Jesus, we too will sink just like Peter.
It is better to serve God than man.

Thank you Debbie.. While I disagree with your assesment of rbell.. you have renewed my confidence in you..

I actually thought yesterday you were one of those that believed IFBs were the only ones going to Heaven... that disturbs be because I grew up that way. I guess that is why I am so adamant about what I believe now (basically the same thing mexdeaf wrote.. (BTW mex, thanks.. you expressed how I believe better than I could))

So, you are a LU student? On campus or online? I have a friend that is on Campus, he is in his last yr there.


*** as a sidenote.. not to hijack, but me and a teen at church had a very good discussion last night about the use of the KJV.. He was telling me that in our public school's Senior English class, they are using the KJV for literary purposes.. and he expressed that he really likes how the KJV reads...

Now you all know, I use many versions.. and maybe some other MV person would have ranted how it is not understandable and stuff like that ... but not me...I praised him, and encouraged him to spend sometime with it instead of his NKJV or NLT.. (he uses both)... He said he loves the poetic flow of the KJV..

See, I'm not all bad!!! lol***

I am an online student, only need two more classes, and I will graduate with a Bach of Science in May.

Criminal Justice and Music......weird combo, I know, but the Music portion was finished years ago, and Liberty accepted my Univ of Arizona credits.
So it is a dual major.

I am taking Judicial Process right now. I have a case brief due today. (sigh) I work fulltime at the local police department, so I have spent my days off doing homework for quite a while now.

I finished all of Liberty's required theology courses, and I loved them. Ergun Caner is an incredible teacher. Like I said, the Liberty theology is sound. The preferences are askew, that's all. The school focus is not to win the world to Christ, but it is to stay somewhat conservative. Jerry Falwell did a good thing when he had the vision for this school, but he let some worldly people sway his thinking, and now sports and such are the focus. It's all about money, right?

Well let me be the first to congratulate you ... I finished up in October through our State convention's school of Christian Studies, and am planning on going ot Palmer soon... If I can swing it.

We live in a very conservative district! And they don't teach it as teaching theology, but using it as just one of the many "ancient literary greats" But hey, his English test was on Gen 1 yesterday! and the use of pronouns.

He said his English teacher has also used other versions of the Bible to compare how people translate from one language to another..
You know, the different styles of translating.. word for word, vs thought for thought..

I guess the teacher wants the students to see the practical use for learning about pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, etc.
