Blackbird, who said anything about investing in Falwell's ministry. I am just concerned about "rushing to judgment." I'm still with the webmaster on this one.

I am not knocking Dr. Falwell, just the "vision above." Maybe its just me, but for some reason, this just doesn't gel. I don't see recreation centers and golf courses for the early church, but something similar to the above found in Rev.

Rev 3:[14] And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
[15] I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
[16] So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
[17] Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
[18] I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
[19] As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Didn't Jesus say: "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."

Why is that? Perhaps He knew it was human nature to band together. (Look what happened at Babel!)

What if the early church had stayed in Jerusalem and built a community with recreation centers, golf courses and condominiums instead of doing as He commanded to do?

Somehow, it all just seems to miss the point, but yet is so typical of American Christian myopia! Look at what is going on in other parts of the world. Do you see any of these Christians living an amusement park fantasy trip? Dining at revolving restaurants?

September 22, 2001 – At the instigation of his family, Security Police in Khartoum tortured Christian convert Mohammed Saeed Mohammed Omer Omer, and forced him to sign papers swearing he will not attend any church or Christian gatherings in the future, but he refused to renounce his faith in Christ. A local source said, “He was tortured and beaten, and he lost three fingernails pulled out with pliers.” His family has threatened to disown him and is keeping him under house arrest. (Compass)

Sudan Ongoing - The NIF regime declared a jihad (holy war) against the religious and ethnic minorities that resist forced Islamization. It is estimated that 2 million people have died in the conflict and five million out of the eight million people that live in the South have been displaced since the fighting began in 1983. The strategy used by the NIF and its accomplices can be considered a scorched earth policy. Areas are sealed off by road and air and government forces move in. Units are often sent into areas and told to "depopulate" the area. Mines are often sown on important roads and paths. All the people and livestock are taken or killed and all structures are destroyed. People are forcibly relocated to "peace camps." In these camps, the young are taken away from their parents and sent to other camps for indoctrination by Islamic fundamentalists.

Indonesia: Ongoing – As of December 2000 it is reported that as many as 5000 Christians have been forced to undergo Muslim conversion rituals to convert to Islam. Those refusing to embrace the Islamic faith are often beheaded. Their heads are then paraded around the village to strike fear into the hearts of other Christians.

Egypt: Two young Christian men were killed in the village of El-Kosheh, Dar Assalam and Governate of Soha, Egypt. The local Coptic Bishop reported that the consensus of the village was that the killers were three Muslim men who were known to police. The police made no effort to apprehend this individuals but rather rounded up nearly 1,200 Christians, including men, women, and children, during the course of the following week. During their detainment, it is reported that these people suffered verbal abuse and physical abuse that included electrical shock, whippings, beatings, and being hung from their feet for extended periods of time.

There are other stories: A Christian pastor in Saudi Arabia who saw his infant son hacked into pieces before his eyes because he would not renounce Jesus Christ.

The little 9-year-old boy in Sudan who was set on fire by Muslim extremists and left to die, living with deformities all over his body because he loves Jesus.

Or the young woman in Pakistan who was repeatedly raped and outcast because she refused to denounce Jesus Christ.

I grieve at the apathy of Christian America. Dear God help us--how soft and selfish and materialistic we all are! Entertainment centers? Golf courses? Multi-million dollar buildings and family life centers? Investments?

If the post-tribbers are right, how many of us in America will be able to endure to the end?
