Than you, I had a wonderful birthday (29th). I got the Soldier of the Cross Cd and I love it. Thanks for your warm welcomes also.

Most definitely the Cathedral Quartet was and still is my favorite. I love to still hear Ernie Haase hit the high notes, and George Younce hit the low ones. And oh, how I miss Glenn Payne. And it is amazing how many men have been with the quartet and who have got their start working with the two original members George & Glenn. Many have been able to go out and start their own music or their own quartets.

I remember when I was little and we would go to visit my Grandparents, my Grandpa would be listening to the Cathedrals on his old turntable over and over again. I didn't realize then what an impact just listening to them would have done to me until a few years ago. My grandpa has since passed away and I was surfing through the channels one evening and heard a most familiar sound. I stopped and listened and the tears just began to fall. I finally understood what my grandpa was doing and what he was listening to and understood what it meant to truly listen to Gods message through music. The true gospel. Thank you Grandpa!!!
God bless,

Definatly the Rochester Family. That family, when they sing can bring tears to the hardest persons' eyes. They used to be members of our church, but God called them to sing full time for His glory. They can harmonize beautifuly a capella, and thier songs are truly Gospel.

Interesting. . they moved to my church (Trinity Baptist of Asheville, NC) when they went on the road FT. Very nice family, but I don't like Blue Grass.

I really like Jenny Owens, Micheal English, Michael W. Smith, Squire Parsons, Gold City, Gaither Vocal Band. .. and the list keeps going.

Hey Curtis and Atestring,

I finally went out and got "Soldier of the Cross". I'm listening to "A Voice From on High" right now.

You were right. It is good.

I'm flipping back and forth between this and Rodney Crowell on Austin City Limits.

I also picked up the "Tommy" soundtrack (the Broadway play, not the movie).

My husbands favorite group is Third Day. He plays the cd "THIRD DAY OFFERINGS A worship album" all the time. We both love the song King Of Glory!

Since you are from Lafollette Tennessee you may have heard of a one of my favorite musicians.
His name is Adam steffey.
There is a bluegrass gospel group from lafolette by the name of "The Birdsong Family."
Do you happen to know either of these?

I know who Adam Steffey is. His mandolin is very understated, not showy. He's great!!!

I got to meet Adam Steffey a month ago when I went to Hoofers Gospel barn in Lagrange GA

He not only is a great musician but I have never met a more congenial person than Adam Steffey.

He was with the Isaacs for a while.
they are also a wonderful group. I am not sure, but I think that they are also from lafollette Tennessee. If so Lafolette must be a great place to find musicians.

So far of all my reading, no one has even metioned PETRA from the late 80's and early 90's!!! Because of them is why I want to be a musical evangelist! A close brother in Christ, and very special friend, John Burris, now lives in Nebraska and I in Ohio now we can't minister in music no more. Boy I miss writing and playing music with John, and I miss him too! Our music was kind of like PETRA but simpler.
