Thanks and no, I didn't. Guess this one is kind of repetitive. :tear:
I noted that nobody mentioned John Piper. Do you feel he lacks the scholarly qualities of men like. ML-J, Ferguson & Boyce...that's how I see him.
For reading purposes, I enjoy Jones...like Studies in the Sermon on the Mount. ML-J is far better as a writer of books where as Sinclair Ferguson captivates me both in his books and his sermons, he is very scholarly and has a sence of humor.
Paul Washer interests me, but I'm conserned with his presentation into blended churches ...he riles them up too much. If I were him, I would stick to Reformed movement churches.
You didn't mean the 19th century Baptist James Boice;but James M. Boice of 10th Presbyterian fame.ML-J, Ferguson & Boyce...that's how I see him.
It was the Doctor who introduced me to Reformed theology more than 35 years ago through his sermons put to print. And as P4T said --Dr. M-L-J never wrote a book to my knowledge --it's just that his sermons and addresses were put into book form. But even his letters are worth reading. For reading purposes, I enjoy Jones...like Studies in the Sermon on the Mount. ML-J is far better as a writer of books
No ML-J published his sermons...that's correct. Yes and referring to James Montgomery Boyce @ 10th Presbyterian in Philadelphia......that's Pa, not creamed cheese. You didn't mean the 19th century Baptist James Boice;but James M. Boice of 10th Presbyterian fame.

I'm not into Piper. I've heard a few good things he has said on clips from youtube but I don't seek him out. He comes up as suggestions when listening to others.
MLJ's sermons are online and free. Many of them are word for word what he says in his books, thus his writings are actually his sermons.
He's only doing what you are doing but on a much larger scale, goose. :tongue3:
