The amount of melanin in one's skin is certainly an important criteria for public office.

Man is depraved--it shows up in everything he does--of himself.

What does the color of one's skin have to do with anything?

Peace,

Bro. James

One reason we've had no black candidates for SBC President before is that there is a relatively small pool of black SBC pastors.

And, you can't elect a black pastor if no black pastor runs for the office.

Now that it's happened, expect to see more black SBC Baptists to be incorporated into the mainstream. This will start with the president's appointments to committees.

Remember, it took more than ten years for conservatives to regain control of the denominational machinery after the Conservative Resurgence began.

Before blacks can have a larger voice, there must be more black SBC churches and pastors. Maybe this election will start, if not speed up, the process.

Just as long as the black candidates are conservative, not liberal, and they remember that its Christians first, as neither white/black in christ!

I think that is a very valid question! Whats good for the goose is good for the gander?

Didn't know he was from Africa. Has the SBC had a Yankee President yet, how about a female, or someone with a major physical disability, ect, ect, ect

Here is the bottom line - does he consider himself the first Black President of the SBC, or does he consider himself a Southern Baptist?

But I'm not sure Alcott is coming at this the same way as you. There's a difference here. But I stand to be corrected.
