Here's an opportunity to own a village. :)

For sale -- an English village
Mon Mar 16, 12:45 pm ET

LINKENHOLT, England (Reuters) – An entire English village, complete with 22 houses and cottages, two blacksmiths and a cricket pitch, goes on sale this week.

The charitable trust which owns Linkenholt in Hampshire, southern England, has decided to sell up and use the capital it raises elsewhere.

The asking price when Linkenholt goes on the open market on Wednesday is 22-25 million pounds ($31-35 million), according to Jackson-Stops & Staff estate agents who are handling the sale.

I wouldn't mind buying the village, but there would have to be away to pick up there entire village & move it back here to the states.

I have often joked that if I ever won a massive amount of money that I would buy the trailer park that I live in & give the trailers being rented to the tenants free of charge. The only catch is they would need to move them elsewhere. Once the land has been cleared, I would begin to build my dream home on the property & continue to live in my trailer until my home is completed. If I had an even more massive amount of money, I have even thought about buying the entire neighborhood.

That of course would only happen in my dreams.

And since you have money you could buy a two story mobile home.

Why wouldn't you just buy an empty lot of land?

I never thought of building a 2 story trailer. That would be almost like a vertical double wide.

I guess I have just grown attached to where I live. I'm reasonably close to my job & have everything else close by.

If the city annexes my neighborhood, then I would definitely consider buying land out of the city limits.

Latley, they (the city of Mobile) have been on a land grab where they are annexing various unincorporated areas & towns. Technically, I live in the unicorporated area of part Mobile called West Mobile. For years they have been trying to annex West Mobile. Only this time the mayor has been dividing our voting distrcts up to get a favorable outcome. This is commonly reffered to as gerrymandering. There are those of us who have been trying to either give everyone a vote in this matter or not at all. So far, nothing has come through yet. All this annexation means is us paying higher taxes.
