Former prisoners

I am curious.
I am wondering if there are any other folks on this Board, Baptist or otherwise, who in their past have had to spend time in prison.
Did you get saved there or were you saved before or after?
Me; I was saved before but backslid so hard I got "road rash"!

Am now serving God by preaching in prisons.

Well I guess you can say I go to prisoners as in spirits that are in prison locked up under "something" lol! Proclaiming freedom for "these" captives. But I don't go into literal prison establishment (buildings).

So Yes in this regard I spent time in "this kind" of prison myself but not the one your mentioning (wink).

I have not had that experience, but my two sons went to county jail: my (then) 15 year old was there for 9 months and my (then) 18 year old. The younger went in April and my older in Dec. So I had both of them in there at one point. This was 3 years ago.

From a mother's perspective, I was more devastated than at any other time in my life. And I have been through a lot, most before my kids were born. Maybe it is genetics or maybe I was a rotten mother, I just don't know. The boys tell me that it was them and not me. But my heart hurts to this day because their lives will be limited because they are felons. No right to vote, join the service, etc.

You are doing a very worthwhile ministry. My children were saved before they went but went wild on me when we transferred here. My youngest son recommitted his life to the Lord while in prison and my older son relied on God during that time. However, both seem to be living lives not pleasing to the Lord at this time. Please pray for them, Jim. I would appreciate it more than anything. Thanks!

They have my prayers. Primarily that they will submit to authority. That is the crux of any "prodigal" sons' problem.

One of my 1/2 brothers on my birth fathers side spent four years in jail on home invasion and attempted murder charges. His younger sister married a man who is doing life in prison in KY for his third conviction on sexual battery/rape. They are now divorced. But, she went to jail for prostitution, and then again for bringing her ex-husband drugs into the prison. Their younger brother spent time in jail in Charleston, SC for manufacturing meth. I'm the only one of my birth father's children that has never been in prison. Thank the Lord I wasn't raised by him and my three other step mothers. Don't get me wrong, I love these family members dearly and long to see them saved.

I worked for a time in the prison ministry in one of the churches we attended.
