  • Manly, yes, but your ears stick out a LOT - might try a slightly softer haircut.

  • The haircut is a disaster - those Dumbo ears should be covered.

Steve,
As as kid, I was called all kinds of names due to my big ears.

and today - I still sport my military haircut

Thanks, Salty. Please, everyone, do vote in the poll. I'm not bothered at all - but sometimes I wonder if my appearance means that people take me less seriously professionally. I'm not at all bothered personally! People can be as honest as they like.

I'd not hesitate to hire you, at least I know you'll listen.

Being serious, they appear far bigger to you than they do us. As long as you don't have a silly catchphrase and a commercial about being hurt in a car I see no reason to be concerned.

Probably wouldn't have noticed your ears at all, had you not mentioned it. Since you did mention them--they stick out a little bit, but nothing that would affect my opinion of you in any way.

Ah, OK - I've added an extra option! I'm not bothered by frankness. A solicitor mentioned to me I might want to get some work done on them, in case people don't take me as seriously as they might.

What area of law is your expertise? Are you in public court in front of juries? Otherwise, why would your appearance be a factor in people taking you seriously?

Not in front of juries, no. My expertise is in property. It was just a passing comment by a fellow lawyer.

Yup, I still have hair! I guess mine has been removed by choice! ;o)

We all look different from or student days. It is not what is on our heads (hair, ears, nose, eyes) but what's in it that counts.

Me, as a student 60 years ago. (I know. I know. I looked 12 until I was 30.)

Then me 40 years ago in my former profession.

Followed by me now.

You would be fine for working at my business, but if you came to the house calling on my daughter that would be a different story entirely! No really, you look just fine, clean cut and presentable to others. Face it, we are who we are and nothing can be done about it. (I am glad though that you no longer seek to emulate your earlier days as evidenced by the first picture).

I remember the first time the clippers were buzzing up my neck - half an hour later, my wild mop was gone and I looked like Dumbo, but didn't care! I was told I looked by some I looked a lot more manly.
