Saw they were going out last night, today posted to my account. If they pass the $2000, I guess we’ll get the difference then.

You don’t honestly think anyone has any intention of paying off the debt, do you? And with this roaring success of covid control..........the next disaster will be lined up before covid ‘goes away’, if it was ever even here. Maybe all part of the ‘Great Reset’.

Government debt is so high now they cant raise interest payments on money. So the FED wont be raising rates, there will not be officially any inflation reported high enough to do that.

I am. I don't think I am the only one.

As soon as the money hit my account, I paid $400 on my charge card. As soon as it clears, I will add the rest and more too. My nose has been above water with my debt, but now the water is down to my waist and inspires me to do whatever it takes to pay it all off before spring.

Credit is a tool. I have learned to use it. It can empower us when used correctly.

Hope you get your personal debt paid off ASAP, but I think he was referring to our astronomical national debt.

The theory is that by giving the people the stimlus - they go out and spend it - then the busness will make money on it -and pay taxes - and are able to hire more people - who will in turn pay tax on their wages.....

That was the same principal for the GI BIll back in the 40's - Pay for a GI's education - and he will make more money and will be able to pay more in taxes.....

Tarpon Springs is a significant small business Tourist Town near where I live. I just visited the famous “Sponge Exchange” that was converted into scores of small shops and eateries to get a cone at the best home made ice cream shop in three counties. 80% of the shops were closed on a day when all shops should have been open (a busy holiday weekend) and more than half had “for rent” signs in the windows even though the stores were full of shelves of goods. I have a strong suspicion that when the economy reopens without restrictions, it will have contracted a staggering amount with a majority of small businesses never to reopen. Since small businesses employ 70% of all workers, I cannot imagine any scenario where this is good for the economy, GNP or Tax Revenue.

It cannot mean nothing when the US debt goes from 50% of our GNP to 200% of our GNP.

What bothers me is Mitch McConnell saying that any check more than $600 was welfare for the rich.
Really? Mitch, the government takes my money as income tax, sales tax, property tax and multiple other "fees", do you really propose to tell me that I am getting welfare when it's my money in the first place?
Second, you just gave out billions of dollars in welfare aid to other nations around the world with my money. Yet, you have the temerity to tell me that more than $600 would be welfare for the rich.

Drain the Swamp!!!

Can anyone explain the math to me?

300 million people live in the USA x $600 per person = $180 Billion paid out (if EVERYONE gets a check)

Cost of COVID-19 Relief Bill = $900 Billion.

So why does it cost $900 Billion to give us $180 Billion?

(I am not sure I can afford to have the Government “give” me $2000 if it will cost me $10,000 to get it ... that would convert the $900 billion Relief Bill debt into a $3 TRILLION Relief Bill debt.)

Who won't get second stimulus check from COVID-19 bill | kgw.com

You sure are worried about the people actually getting something for their tax dollars, besides funding everyone else in the world. That was just business as usual, but this, where the government, whether state or federal, has caused the complete crash of small business, closed schools, caused great hardship on the country, this compensation really bothers you. OK.
