Gaither Homecoming!

Does anybody like the Gaither Homecoming Southern Gospel Hour, CDs, or DVDs? I have at least ten of them and counting. Discovered them in 2001 but didn't start liking them in 2005. Really they are awesome and catch their show every chance that I get!

I used to love them, but their style of music has changed over several years so I can really enjoy only maybe 3-4 songs in a concert now.

I have several of the oldies that I still enjoy, but none of the modern stuff.

One of the "things" that they do now that really irritates me is the practice of finishing a song, a slight pause , then launching into a rehash of some part of it again. This style of singing ends up , IMHO, "ending" three or four times before the "end" takes root.

I know, I know - I'm just a quirky old coot!!! So sue me!:smilewinkgrin:

Considering the fact that our church has gone mostly to contempory music, the Gaither music is very refreshing and worshipful for us. We don't get the good old worship songs at church any more, so we really enjoy thier music.

We get a number of Gaither music programs on the higher channels of our HD TV. In fact one is on TV right now.

I remember Bill Gaither when he had a radio program on Moody Radio; a little bit of preaching and a little bit of song.

Aside from growing with the times, I don't see too much difference in his music. Yes, I like the music.

I've been to several of the Homecoming concerts. Enjoyed them all. If I don't like a particular song, I'll just wait a few minutes. One I like will be along shortly.

I've never really gotten into a lot of the Homecoming things, but I really do like the one they did with Ernie Hasse and SS.

I had a couple of their albums back in the 80's and enjoyed them.

What is interesting to me is that a lot of the "up and coming" singers back in the day are now singing with Gaither. Russ Taff. Larnelle Harris. Yeah.

I watch their tv show every chance I get, which is everyday on Living Faith Network TV!
