Announcement Regarding the GARBC’s National Representative
"Announcement from David Strope, Chairman of the Council of Eighteen
'It is with deep regret that I announce Mike Hess was asked for his resignation from service as national representative of the GARBC due to choices he made that were inconsistent with the standards of his office. His resignation was willingly tendered on December 8, 2021, and was accepted by the Council of Eighteen with regret but with acknowledgement of its necessity.
In situations like this, the reputation of Christ is paramount, as is the health of our fellowship of churches. Please be in prayer for the Hesses. Pray that God would be at work in their lives during this difficult time. Pray also for the staff serving our fellowship at the GARBC home office and for the members of the Council of Eighteen as they provide leadership during this transitional period.
The Council of Eighteen is working assiduously to address several immediate needs of our fellowship and the eventual need of a new national representative. The genius of our fellowship is that our health and fruitfulness have never been contingent upon one individual, but rather is contingent upon a vital fellowship of churches. God will care for us as a fellowship during this very difficult time. The directors and staff at the GARBC home office along with the Council of Eighteen will continue to serve and work to assist churches in Biblical and fruitful disciple making for the glory of God.
In Isaiah 61:3, the prophet Isaiah spoke of God’s redemptive work on Israel’s behalf. These words may be aptly applied to our own fellowship: God promises to “give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” We covet your prayers and ask that you join us in seeking God’s will and asking Him to manifest His grace, which is always “sufficient for [us], for [His] power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).'
