4Pillars said:
The 1st Firmament or Heaven was made on the 2nd Day. Gen 1:6-8 It was formed in the midst or middle of the Water, and Water was above and below it. IOW, the 1st Heaven, was surrounded by water. It was later destroyed, totally and completely, by that same Water, when the "windows of heaven were opened. Gen. 7:11
Let's take a look at the text.
Gen 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
Gen 1:7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
Gen 1:8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
Gen 1:9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
Gen 1:10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
If the waters under the heaven, or firmament, were gathered together and called "seas", it seems to reason that the waters
above the firmament would have been the canopy of water that used to envelope the planet before the flood. After the flood, this would be reduced to clouds.
This firmament is simply the atmosphere of the earth, where birds and such fly.
Gen 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
It is still in existence, evidenced by each breath we take.
Our Heaven or Universe was made on the 3rd Day. Gen 2:4-5 The Big Bang happened on the 3rd Day, the same Day Jesus made our Heaven or Kosmos, and also the 3rd Heaven.
Gen 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
Gen 1:15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
Gen 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
Gen 1:17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth
This took place on the fourth day. the firmament or heaven referred to here is the space occupied by the sun (greater light), moon (leser light), and stars. This is the second "heaven" mentioned in the Scritpures.
I'm not sure what you're talking about concerning the third day with the reference to Gen 2:4-5. It reads,
Gen 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
Gen 2:5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
I see no mention of a "big bang", here nor anywhere else in Scripture, at least not until 2 Pet 3:10, but that's the end, not the beginning.
2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise [big bang?], and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
The third heaven is the dwelling of God.
