HE LEAVES the White House as one of the least popular and most divisive presidents in American history. At home, his approval rating has been stuck in the 20s for months; abroad, George Bush has presided over the most catastrophic collapse in America’s reputation since the second world war. The American economy is in deep recession, brought on by a crisis that forced Mr Bush to preside over huge and unpopular bail-outs.

America is embroiled in two wars, one of which Mr Bush launched against the tide of world opinion. The Bush family name, once among the most illustrious in American political life, is now so tainted that Jeb, George’s younger brother, recently decided not to run for the Senate from Florida. A Bush relative describes family gatherings as “funeral wakes”.

Few people would have predicted this litany of disasters when Mr Bush ran for the presidency in 2000. True, the 2000 election was likely to be divisive because of the peculiar arithmetic of the outcome (Mr Bush lost the popular vote to Al Gore by 500,000 votes, then won a disputed recount in Florida by a few hundred). But for most people Mr Bush was a pretty acceptable choice, and certainly not a crusader-in-waiting.

I see you polite side is coming out. I was simply curious if you have any interest in Asia or Oceania ... it is pretty obvious you are not interested in Europe.

Right now, I'm recovering from a pretty serious injury, so I have a lot of time on my hands.

Asian countries are basically heathen countries, and I could not care less what they think of me. And I see nowhere in scripture telling me I should, in fact, I see scripture telling me NOT to worry about what others think of me.

Why do you ignore so much scripture ? How is it you get creamed in EVERY discussion of biblical principles ? And not by just me. Why don't you care about what the Bible says ? Why do you add so much when it suits you, and ignore the parts you don't like ?

Seems to me that Christ's last command when he was on earth was to, "Go ye into all the world...." That means we have to be interested in the world and other cultures so when we go into the world we will have some idea of what we are doing. So who is ignoring scripture on going forth?

Did God send Joseph forth?
Did God send Moses forth?
Did God send Paul forth?
Did God send Peter forth?
Did God send Thomas forth?

I could go on, but you get my jest.

Scripture tells up to proclaim a name the world will hate. It is that simple. Every New Testament name you mentioned died a horrible death because of what they preached. How did the world view them ?

Who said anything about being liked? I am talking about going forth, not entering a popularity contest, I am talking about Christ's command for us to go into the world and tell the world of him, or to work your area of expertest for Him.

While a healthy relationship with Jesus is the starting point, we are commanded to go. The Great Commission cannot be fulfilled without going forth.

Matthew 4:19 Jesus said, “…Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

Fishing for men is the outgrowth of a relationship with Jesus, following Him.

II Corinthians 5:20 says, “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.”

An ambassador does not stay home, but goes forth to where he is sent, in this case where God sends us.
