George Will Says Being A Rape Victim Is A 'Coveted Status' In College

Until now I always felt that George Will had a brain. Why is he so concerned about young men's future life but not that of young women? This attitude certainly will not win any votes from women.

Columnist George Will thinks that being a rape victim is now a "coveted status" on college campuses.

No, really.

The conservative titan wrote about "the supposed campus epidemic of rape, a.k.a. 'sexual assault,'" in a piece on Friday. He put this trend down to increased political correctness on college campuses, which, he said, was proving that when universities "make victimhood a coveted status that confers privileges, victims proliferate."

Will is correct, but it's politically incorrect to agree with him.

These Femi-nazis can get drunk and have sex with a guy, and then claim the next day he raped her. It's the best of all worlds, she can promote her man hate, AND have sex.

And many of these feminists are so homely, it is actually a boast to say a man raped them.

Rape is something against someone's will. Never a coveted status of any and all means!

Actually I think we are seeing a generation of victims or victimhood. I have a 23 year old at home and hear her conversations and such and they almost all claim the poor-me status. It is like a badge they wear proudly. I think they figure they will get sympathy and thus attention, that is the end product "Attention". And I think it is working. Now to go as far as saying rape is a badge they seek out, not so sure.

Interesting.... I am preparing a lesson and discussion for tomorrow morning about Joseph and his going to prison because Lady Potiphor tried to seduce him, then she falsely accused him of sexual assault. It occurred to me to check this site, because I've read about G.Will's column and the hostilities against him; and sure enough, precisely as I expected, crabtownboy has started a thread and is joining that lynch mob.

George Will Addresses Outrage Trolls & Democratic Senators Calling for His Head

It’s an irony of the modern left that those who pose as the most open-minded people on the planet are cognitively incapable of dealing with criticism they find not to be to their liking.

In this inteview on CSPAN, award-winning op-ed columnist George Will addresses critics who are “calling for his head” for questioning the conventional college campus wisdom on sexual assault.

The fury that radical activists were able to gin up over his controversial topics, the masters at context-dropping and verbal contortion that they are, eventually led to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch dropping his column.
The “incendiary” piece that launched a thousand progressive warships addressed the question of whether sexual assaults at colleges should make due process rights go by the wayside. While some phrases in the column are unnecessarily bombastic (Will wrote that there is a “supposed campus epidemic of rape” and that “victimhood” serves as a “coveted status that confers privileges”), his broader points merit thoughtful consideration.
Will deftly challenges the critics and Democratic Senators who argue that he is “trivializing” sexual assault. The Washington Post columnist convincingly argues why he takes the issue of rape more seriously than they do. He also aptly depicts the perpetual activists who are stuck in “outrage” mode when anyone dares to challenge their fallacious statistics or over-dramatization of social ailments for political benefit.

The Huffington Post‘s blaring headline “George Will Stands By His Incendiary Sexual Assault Column” is reflective of the hostile stance of the left-leaning media.

Nonetheless, it is obvious that Will is not arguing that sexual assault is trivial, but rather that charges of sexual assault are tremendously serious:

“A lot of young men and young women in this sea of hormones and alcohol…you’re going to have charges of sexual assault. You’re going to have young men disciplined, their lives often permanently and seriously blighted by this, don’t get into medical school, don’t get into law school, all the rest, and you’re going to have litigation of tremendous expense.”

Why are you unconcerned about young women whose lives are ruined by rape?

Why are you unconcerned about the men who's lives get ruined by false accusations of rape?

I can play this game all day long crabby. I have more games than Milton Bradley. Keep it up.

Or.....you can just start posting in an intellectual honest way.

Here's George Will's column, not a hyper-partisan commentary on it.....Lazy, Crabtownboy. Why don't you quote the actual piece, dissect it, and tell us why you disagree with him on it.

I don't believe CTB ever reads the source any of the trash he posts. He just takes the leftist spin and goes with it.

Shameful.

Or is it deliberate ignorance, a result of his inherent laziness.

Frankly, I am concerned about both.

Why do you always defend the male and never the female. You were incensed several years ago when I said that the father of an aborted child should be punished in some way if the woman was to be punished ... especially the male who puts great pressure on her to have an abortion.

Have people no concern about their daughters?

Are people teaching proper sexual behavior to their sons?

There is nothing true in this post. Nothing.
