There are many believers who think America has lost favor with God [including yours truly], but I would have to say, if any of us had any doubts of God's love for America waning, the events of the last four days put a lid on that.

The quick apprehension of these terrorists, and the minimal number of folks losing their life is one more testament to the AWESOMENESS of our loving God. raying:

Mixed emotions on this topic.

Yes, praise our God always! :godisgood:

Even in the worst of times God has always looked after His people. Noah is probably the best example, within this context. He and his family were spared when God's wrath destroyed not only a nation, but the entire world of everyone and everything that wasn't in the ark.

I still believe that God's favor towards this nation is waning. He allowed the bombing in Boston to come about. Just as He did back on 9/11. Perhaps, as warnings. I don't know. It just seems that there are more and more "warnings" happening now than were happening when I was younger.

Are we reaching ever closer to the point of no return? Will June be the point of no return?

America as a nation has no special place of importance with God. Why would she? She's become corrupt and a haven for every type of wickedness imaginable. However, I believe God is merciful to this country because despite the failings there is still a large number of Christians in the country, and God will be gracious to His true nation - the church.

Man are you kidding me ??? The quick apprehension just goes to show you what can be done when law enforcement work together and are serious about catching someone. Why are they not as committed about finding Holly Bobo ? I believe our nation is under the wrath of God in a measure. I would hate to still be here when his wrath is poured out on America without mixture.

Yes!!! My friend, you are correct. If each of us who are saved would do our part to be all we can to the glory of God our little and larger problems would be reduces greatly. Keep in mind, God does teach us a lot out of our suffering.

Brother, I respectfully disagree. As one of His adopted children, IMO, that verse applies to any land. The barrier in the temple was ripped apart.

That verse applies to the USA, to Sweden, Turkey, Australia, and even those sitting on the ice in Anartica.

What would happen to Christianity in America if we stopped believing that God has chosen America in some special way?? We have turned patriotism into civil religion. Some people put patriotism on par w/ orthodoxy. I find so much error in that and so much inconsistency to God's mission to the nations... by means of Israel (true church) not America (modern day Rome).

....I firmly believe that without God [and the prayers of the faithful] we may not have seen such a rapid response and quick apprehension of these guys.

Sure, give law enforcement credit.....but I don't believe law enforcement could have done this without God's hand being a part of this!

We all know that a large number of believers interceded for the protection of Americans during this crisis, and for the apprehension of the bad guys. And while the nation may be slipping into the dark mud of sin, there is a Holy remnant that God is going to listen to and continue to grant his favor to.

I don't know, RD. Before this last string of events, I had been watching the news and all the corruption and discussing it, praying over it quite a bit and it occurred to me just how very down the tubes we as a nation keep going after each tragedy. How each time something happens, we as a nation spend less time turning back to Gd, how we quickly return to the pettiness and do not seem to grasp the opportunity to repent and change.

In looking at things and timing, at anniversaries, at the corruption, it did seem that based on past history, it had been a while since any tragedies and we'd reached that point again where it was uncomfortably quiet, too quiet, too many people being petty, too much corruption, and it had an oddly similar feel to the prior "just before the storm" times.

I don't get the feeling this was any divine protection. I get the feeling that we as a nation COULD have that if we simply did the right thing - turned away from wicked things and turned to Gd. Then we would probably get the tar bombed out of us all over, but would have something more mighty, more powerful. We wouldn't be sitting here WONDERING if we had HIS blessing. We would know we did.

Blessings don't happen to nations that don't put faith in Gd. It's that simple, and we don't. Look at the corruption, the lies, the murders, the turning away from the commandments, the lack of faith, the embracing of evil things, the embracing of sin, the culture of accepting wrong as right, and tell me you honestly believe this is a righteous nation. We may have more believers here on some silly survey, but think about how the average believer lives and what they go through on a daily basis for their faith compared to what others go through. While it is nice that we don't have to go through some of the horrors others have to go through in order to live their faith, I do wonder how many would remain faithful if we had to endure what others endure. I guess we're going to find out soon enough. It's starting, right?

Finding people who killed innocent people is good, so I can't disagree that finding them wasn't of Gd, but I can't say it was because our nation is especially wonderful and holy or anything. So where was God when it took 10 years to track down and bring to justice bin Laden? Hitler tracked down those who tried to kill him in a few hours. Was he also a recipient of God's blessing?

I think you're misapplying the biblical truth of the remnant to fit your own take on America.

How many ways can we spin the question? So why did the apprehension cost the lives of another officer if God is so good and America is so great? So why did the first suspect have to die in the process? Why did the bombing happen in the first place?

America is a fine nation but is no more favored by God than any nation. God doesn't care about nations, He cares about people.

...in fact, fact I specifically stated that like Sodom and Gomorrah, we were at the stage that we were lucky and blessed to still find ten worthy people.

The truth is America's doesn't deserve any favor from God. However, that is what make's God's favor so special. No one is worthy or good enough for His favor, so when we receive that favor [in this case, assistance in helping us find these terrorists] it is something to rejoice over.

I also like your point....on how many would stand tall when tested? I think the church is weak, lukewarm and untested, and when the real testing comes, many who claim to be Christians will fall flat on their face, scraping their nose, and running to the next-best thing around to find comfort and hope in. Trouble is the thing they will run to will not be God. In fact, they will blame God for the testing and bad, and become grid-locked on the highway to hell.

That will be when he separates the wheat from the tares. It is coming. Much sooner than we expect. Something like the thief in the night, the testing will arrive and the massive falling away will become a reality.

The sad thing is, we'll probably see many on this board fall away too.

Like you said, if Americans had to face what others face around this world in the name of Jesus, the herds will be thinned! :tear:

that's what He meant when He spoke through the mouth of Jesus to His people and said "ye are the light of the world".
the whole world lies in darkness but His people, with Jesus, The Light, in them, are small pinpricks of light in this sin-darkened world.
