I guess it depends on what you mean by "bless," but God specifically said his blessings to the nations would pass in the covenant made with Abraham through the line of Isaac, not Ishmael. See Gen. 17.21 and 21.12

At this point, I'd really like to ask what you all mean by "bless" when you say "God bless America," or "God bless the world," or whatever.

Such a simple statement gets so complicated.

God Bless America! = May God have Favor on America.

And it is appropriate to say that without considering other countries if you are Patriotic. However if you are of the Cosmopolitan nature this is offensive or bothersome at the least. Socialist/Communists are almost always offended by Patriotism. For it excludes in their mind world human rights.

However, American patriots can and do love their country for many reasons and it has a special place in our hearts above all other countries, as well as cherish our borders and national soveriegnty.

I love America first. I think it is best. If one from another country feels the same way about his country then I say that is as it should be, and I applaud him.

One of these days we will be trading our citizenship here in America for our Citizenship in heaven. I have been fortunate to see a good portion of this country from coast to coast. America is beautiful for so many reasons, not only for its beautiful landscapes (and there are many) but also for the rich diversity of people who have chosen to live here and embrace our values.

God did good when He made this country and we who live here are truely blessed.

Rev. Mitchell, thanks for sharing the sites, you did good.

I love the kingdom of God first, my brethren regardless of country second, all people regardless of country third, and minimize and keep my peace about my country of origin.

I think this is best, and it certainly goes against the ethnocentrism the New Testament so clearly condemns.

Why do you change what we say? No one on this board, except you, has added "and no one else."

Why do you add this? I could speculate, but would prefer to hear from you why you put words there that I have not only NOT written (nor said aloud when I pray.)

"It is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: for Jew first, and then Greek."
    - Romans 1:16

"But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread and cast it to the dogs."
    -Matthew 15:26

"I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
    -Matthew 15:24

"Go nowhere among the Gentiles, and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
    -Matthew 10:5,6

Obviously God dealt with, and I think continues to deal with nations. There is nothing wrong with Americans, Mexicans, Dutch, or whatever asking for God's blessings on their country.

I wish for God to bless the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica, China, Vietnam, Khazakstan, The Czech Republic, Romania, Greece, Israel, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Australia, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Egypt, Morrocco, Denmark, Russia, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, and on and on to all the nations of this troubled planet. If ever a troubled world needed blessing, this fragile human civilization on Earth needs it now.

No, not at all, RM. Read the posts above mine. Plus, the subject is God Bless America. Well, God is not just concerned with our artificial divisions of humanity. He bestows blessings on them all.
