the law of causality should be applied here. what causes a person to be saved, some inward desire for God or God's outward desire to save. i think God causes the salvation by opening up someone's eye's to the truth. i do not think a person on there own will "spontaneously see" the truth of scripture. this is like a blind man finding a glowstick in a dark forest. but if your eyes are opened it will be plain to see what direction to go. (i can only attest to my own experience) when i got saved it was like there was no other choice, seriously, the choice is eternal punishment or eternal life. i new i was in need of a savior (i was a drugdealer and an addict,as well as enjoying sin, i tried to think up whole new catagories of sin). For me the answer was an "uh-duh"; who, when the truth is seen, and one knows it is the truth, is going to choose otherwise. i think if people will truely examine their own salvation in the same way they will might find it was the same for them (if they were not saved since childhood, anyone i asked who had been saved since childhood said they couldn't really remember, i'm still asking though).

Who said there is not a way to be tell if someone is saved in this life.....lots of parables about it...The Sower, the ten virgins, wheat and the tares. These parables show that there are true and false converts, from the outside the look the same, sorting out the wheat from the tares will happen at judgement. our job is to make diciples of all nations..

C.H. Spurgeon,"If God had painted a stripe down the back of those who will believe, then i would spend all day lifting up shirts, because He did not i preach Whosoever will"---this is my favortie quote, let me know if it get's old, i still say it anyway, but at least i'll feel you pain...lol

When I asked you were you saw that whetstone had said that I was unsaved, you did not until whetstone himself responded. So you did not explain your error, for there was no innuendo from whetstone regarding my salvation.

Your comments in this thread are a strong sign of immaturity. </font>
Whetstone...I'll tell you what people tell me. Get a thicker skin! I'm gonna be here telling you what signs come from your comments too. Count on it.

Wes...in case you have forgotten I said specifically that if I am wrong, then I would apologize. Ahh...you did forget that, didn't you?

</font>
Yes, but you obviously do not think you are wrong or you would have done what you said you would do! Therefore, I am telling you you are wrong!

 What part of "if I am wrong, I apologize" do you not understand?

And you thou shalt not throw stones when thou livest in a glass house. I don't recall seeing you apologize to James, and YOU were wrong! By the way...stop shouting at me. [IMG]

A true apology is not predicated on "if I am wrong..."

Jesus was under the law as a man. Love your neighbour as yourself springs to mind.
Another thought is that we do not know if he was one of the elect yet to be saved.

MK 10:26 The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, "Who then can be saved?"
MK 10:27 Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."

Very good point.

And As The Bible tells us of other Jewish Leaders rejecting Christ "THEY REJECTED God's PURPOSE for them"!!

God's PURPOSE FOR THEM is salvation – but those who are ultimately lost reject God’s Purpose for THEM .

Even so - God shows Himself as WORKING for their salvation AND YET they turn.
Hence the God who WEEPS over the lost!

In Christ,

Bob

When the “unchanging God” weeps and grieves over the lost - He is not simply pretending so we will be duped into "thinking" He loves them and works for their salvation, when in fact He cares nothing at all for our children and loved ones that are “not elect”.

God’s Grieving involves tears as a parent weeps for a lost child!!

Lament over Jerusalem
God is sorrowful and GRIEVES for the lost and for the fact that He has done so much to win them - yet they TURN away.
God’s Spirit is grieved by the rebellion of His CHOSEN people His HOLY nation His ROYAL priesthood. Yes even by the LOST among them – even the worst among them.
ALL of God’s Compassion is stirred up within Him over the finally lost!

Hello KJ.

We were talking about the man in Mark 10:21. The bloke who filled his barns is in Luke 12:16&gt;.
There is no reason to suppose he didn't.

MK 10:21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
As a miserable Calvinist I would venture to say that this man was saved at a later date but no one knows. The fact that Jesus was a man born under law and loved the Lord His God with all His being causes the outflowing of love to others. Without the love of God there can be no love from man to man. (That love has nothing to do with flowers by the way KJ, just in case. )
The one thing he lacked was a trust in God to provide.

Do we read the same Bible? Mine says, God so LOVED the WORLD. Sounds all inclusive to me.
