All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made-- John 1:3

Do we fully accept this? I remember an episode of All in the Family in which Archie Bunker defended smoking, saying "God meant for man to smoke...everything God planted is for man to use." Then when asked about marijuana, he replied, "God didn't plant marijuana; that was..." and I can't remember the rest of the quote. Anyway, the point is that people will rationalize anything they want to be true. The concept of "If it exists, then God made it" can be a hard one to deal with-- probably less so for physical objects than for ideas and thought patterns [which do exist]. So what are a few examples of which it might be claimed that God did not make them, and how do we explain ['rationalize'] it?

Jesus indeed created all that exists, but God also did not create some of the evil and wicked things people chose to do with that creation!

But evil/wickedness do exist to 'do with it.' Did He create evil, or did it come into existence independent of His sovereignty?

Nothings happens that either God did not directly cause, or indirectly permitted, so even evil and sin were somehow part of his master plan...

he caused neither, but allowed both of them for His own purposes to get accomplished...
