and yet as being the head of the textual criticism dept, would have to affirm inspiration and infallibility of the scriptures!

That he was wrong in those areas!

can a person hold such views and be a bron-again Christian? He is actually questioning the very Authority of the Infallibility and Inerrancy of the Word of God, the Holy Bible!
IF a person has the right God, as revealed as the trinity, and holds to Jesus death and resurrection for their stead, are saved, but very inconsistent on this area!
