I usually allow the women to initiate and determine what is done in those situations. Those who are standoffish or tense are offered a handshake but if more affection is desired, then that is initiated by them.

While we must be sensitive and aware of maintaining a certain level of decorum in our relationships with those of the opposite sex, fear has become dominant in our showing affection to our brothers and sisters. As a pastor, I will always be one who communicates love in word and deed and that includes handshakes and “hugging necks,” especially in public.

Oh, come on, boys....I didn't flog anybody. :saint: :flower:

LeBuick, you cited scripture in an attempt to be funny about women being possessions of men. I know you don't believe that women are possessions, but there are is quite of number Southern Baptist husbands who do and treat their wives accordingly. I simply asked you not to use scripture to make a joke, even an innocent one, about that. No flogging, no quartering...

Brother Bob made a joke about himself....he said that he tried to treat his wife like a possession (he was joking) and she wouldn't stand for it. Now that was levity.

Why does it seem that there are so many Southern Baptist women that no longer know how to treat a man, much less a husband, with respect?

What changed in the last 20 years?

Respect gains respect, and must be earned.

Sounds like you are saying that this is what happened: Baptist women no longer earn respect from men and therefore Baptist women no longer respect the men . . .

Sounds like are you are wise beyond your years.

Maybe some of them could learn from their non-Christian women friends . . .

You don't have to worry about me and other women - never have been attracted to that adultery thing.

It was a genuine question. I don't think that I know you well enough for personal comments.

Secular women notice it, african-american Baptists notice it, tejana (mexican) women notice it, and I definitely notice it.

What has destroyed the relationships of men and women in the SBC realm?

I asked a woman out and she said, "You are more than two years older than I am - you need to date someone your own age." Had I lied to her - she would have gone out with me . . . that is wierd.

I tho't, "That is strange, I just had a secular 20 year old come up to me and ask me out . . . but, a Baptist woman that is old enough to be an old maid, says that I am too old?"

    Can I have your permission.....

Tonight is the 20th Anniversary of the first date my Wife, and I had.

I'm fixing a special dinner for her, have 20 yellow Roses, and Strawberries to be dipped in chocolate for desert.

Would it be okay if I touch her just once?

I promise to be good. Honest.
