FoG, you have a license right? So use it! :D

Respect, huh. So us wormen are supposed to respect the man who stays out till all hours of the morning, makes use of porn, comes in drunk, tells us how stupid we are, speaks rudely to us but can be plenty polite to others, leaves the household entirely to us and then complains when things aren't done the way he would have done them, leaves the child raising to us so long as the kids are quiet while he sleeps on the couch, demands his "rights" as a husband when he wants them or he pouts about it and then heads to church on Sunday and acts like all is well in life. Do you really think this type of man of man deserves respect?

Wives will begin to respect their husbands when husbands begin to fullfill their command to love their wife as Christ loved the church.

Don't get me up on my soapbox! :D

btw, I see this kind of stuff in non Christian homes even more than I see it in Christian homes.

Yes, it does take two to tengo.

Sometimes a "perfect" marriage means waiting until one is mature enough to distinguish between an attractive person and an attractive person that loves back.

I do not mean to attack anyone here who may fit into my little soap box, but I notice that generally, the couples who get married latter usually get along better than the couples who get married right when they hit legal age. Sometimes having time to find the special someone makes it easier to find the special someone. Many people I know who got married at 17 have more conflicts (mainly because they erred in not abstaining), but some, because they were too anxious to enjoy the privaledges of marriage before they even noticed the responsibilities of such.

One of my college faculty members said that marriage is a 100% commitment with 0 expectations.

This is a world of truth.

That type of husband that does that just needs the Lord, he just needs to be saved.

If the wife in this instance is saved then her responsibility is,

Ya'll notice I said goes to church on Sunday, right? Can't be talking about my own DH cause he doesn't pretend to attend. Plus, if mine did everything on my list, he'd be in his grave (justifiable homocide :D ) I will lay claim to having to train out a few bad habits and he never did learn to change a diaper!

However, I know several ladies who's husbands do fullfill more than one fault on that list. Some are even deacons in their respective churches. :( Can't begin a discussion on submission without first having one on the duty of the husband. It's the husband who bears the greater responsiblity since he is the authority in the home.

I believe the verses in question reference marriage versus non-marriage. It is good to remain single and such a lifestyle allows your obligations and priorities to be all to the Lord, but in a marriage one must be concerned with their spouse.

But being single isn't for those who are going to struggle with it so much that they sin in their efforts to do good. In those cases, the person does the more honorable thing by marrying.

Concerning respect between a husband and wife: it doesn't matter if the spouse is a low-down scum-sucking bottom feeder. One can still treat them with the respect and dignity owed to another human being, even as you are packing your bags and walking out the door, or packing his/hers for them.

In fact the whole cotton-picking traditional wedding ceremony is just that

......no way, it wouldn't be said at my wedding

I know that you posted some "funny faces" next to your post, but the post wasn't funny.

…means that a wife is a possession, the chief-cook-and-bottle-washer, the brood sow, the nanny, the "mother" even to the husband, and worse...

Be careful how you quote those verses…

Just be careful about joking about those verses…

I know that I sometimes seem the devil's advocate around here, but I am not nearly as militant as I may seem. I just try to keep people on their toes…

I got scolded, threaten, flogged and quartered...

...you cited scripture in an attempt to be funny about women being possessions of men.

I'd really be interested in your definition of an "old maid"!

    Respect, huh.

So us wormen are supposed to respect the man who stays out till all hours of the morning, makes use of porn, comes in drunk, tells us how stupid we are, speaks rudely to us but can be plenty polite to others,…

Don't get me up on my soapbox!

I do not mean to attack anyone here who may fit into my little soap box, but…

ooooooohhhhhh, you done gone and did it now!

if mine did everything on my list, he'd be in his grave…

Well, I ain't sticking my neck out!
