GOP Congress On The Verge Of A Meltdown

Not only can the GOP not govern, they are now at war with each other. It is a shame they are going to harm America so dearly.

The Republican vs. Republican budget war is now wide open for all to see. The House’s intransigence on this particular issue — it insists that the DHS appropriation include language that somehow reverses President Obama’s executive orders on immigration -– is being matched by the Senate’s unwillingness to take the steps needed either to match what the House wants or develop its own alternative.

And, as I also predicted, the unwillingness of Senate Democrats to provide any votes for their GOP colleagues even on issues where there is some agreement has backed Republicans so far into a political corner that it’s not at all clear how they will fight their way out.

This is not an aberration over the very hot button immigration issue: No matter how this showdown ends, it’s virtually certain to be repeated over and over and over again this year on everything budget-related.

Actually the true blame is admitted above " the unwillingness of Senate Democrats".

You have to agree with Forbes that too many Republicans are in the vest pocket of the US Chamber of Commerce who want cheap labor no matter how much it costs the country.

To reduce things to an absurdity, supposing that everyone in the world lived in the USA, would that make things a better world, or would it just be a form of stupidity? The point is that the world is a big place for human population and a country needs borders.

Of course, the cynicism of the Democrats on this issue is unfathomable as they think that Hispanics, except for Cubans escaping leftism, will vote for the leftist Democrat agenda so that the interest of the Democrats is not in human suffering but in more votes for more power. The Democrats like to lord it over people.

Hank,

With all dew respect, a party that is serious about governing and showing it can govern does not pass an important bill that included a poison pill. If the GOP controlled House is serious about governing they should pass a clean bill funding the Homeland Security Dept. and another showing their displeasure on immigration.

The House Republicans surely knew that by adding the anti-Obama measure on immigration they were killing any chance of the bill being passed by the Senate and also knew that Obama would veto it if it managed to pass the Senate.

What this bill shows is the House Republicans do not care about the welfare of the country. If they did they would approach governing differently.

Poison pills are a great way of getting nothing done.

Crabby there is only one other person on the BB that is more dishonest than you. For the first 2 years of Obama's reign the democrats had a super majority in the Senate and Harry Reid did as he pleased, ramming the Obamacare bill through without a final vote because they lost Teddy. Then for the next 4 years Dingy Harry run the Senate like Obama does the country, doing as he pleased. Now you whine about the Republicans!

Crabby you are just like all democrats. If you can get a Marxist government and unfettered access to the slaughter of the innocents you will be happy, happy, happy. That is the reason democrats in the Senate are supporting Obama's unconstitutional order giving amnesty and everything else to 5 million illegals. Just to get their vote.

As a loyal American I know you will be happy to know that a Federal Judge in Texas has stayed Obama's unconstitutional action!:BangHead::tonofbricks:

Well good folks, seems you have no rational reply, so you attach the poster. Typical of those holding on to a lost cause.

It would be nice is one of you folk actually discussed the topic.

More:

In a statement last week Democratic Minority Leader Harry Reid said, “The Republican Congress is a mess, pure and simple. Democrats are happy to help our Republican colleagues resolve their problems but the first step is for Republican leaders to do the right thing and pass a clean bill to fund Homeland Security.”

The political dilemma for Republicans is that while a shutdown plays well with their base, it gives them relatively little leverage.

Most key functions of the DHS will be funding regardless and the result of past GOP brinkmanship is that Republicans are likely to bear the burden of the blame for any shutdown.

CBT, it's not topic. It's like my kids having a fight. After a while they forget why they are fighting and fight and be mean to each other just for the heck of it.

It's time IMO to make a clean sweep with a third party.

It's time IMO to make a clean sweep with a third party.

There are so many "third parties" but their is no unity among them - even those with similar goals.

There were 29 candidates running on a state/commonwealth established ballot. (+ numerous write in candidates)

Many people are concerned about "wasting" a vote on a third party. Now we can argue whether that third party vote is wasted or not - but I that is what the voter believes - then nothing will change their mind.
In addition, many people only vote party line. This was proven when I ran for City Council - on the Conservative Party line - against two Democrats and (with) one Republican. There were two seats - a voter could choose any two candidates. My fellow Republican also ran on the Conservative line. Most of the people who vote for him on the Republican did NOT vote for me on the Conservative line - even thou they were able to.
Party loyalty - sometimes goes too far.

Bottom line - I contend that all States/Commonwealths should allow the fusion ballot. That way, when you vote on a third party line (that cross-endorse a major party candidate) you are NOT wasting your vote.
Some will say, we (the Conservative Party of NY) are just following the whims of the Republican Party.
Actually, it is the opposite. The Republicans know that if they do NOT put up a conservative candidate, then we will run our own man - and most likely the R's will loose. In fact, no Republican was won a statewide election since 1974 without Conservative Party support.

In 1970, Buckley won the US Senate Seat solely on the Conservative Party line - as the Republicans had put up a liberal candidate.

That is bull crap Crabbie. The democrats are supposed to care about the "workers". What better way to show it than to send illegal workers back where they came from.

Truth is the democrats only want votes and they don't care how they get them!

Crabby you might have the right title but I am going to guess for a different reason. What do you expect with liberal Mitch McConnell leading the Senate and Democrat apologist Speaker Bonehead running the House.

Crabby you have shown just how hypocritical you are by posting the following by dingy Harry:

OK darn the torpedoes, full speed ahead lets disregard the RNC Party party and not even go!

That would probably work but we the people have to initiate it and follow through.
