Gospel ???

Hi to all , and some just throw that word Gospel around , like everyone KNOWS what it is .

Who will tell what the Gospel is and what the TERMS of Salvation are in the SO-CALLED GOSPELS of Matt , Mark , Luke and John ???

The gospel is the good news of salvation along with the stated conditions under this dispensation to receive it personally. Clearly no one will be saved apart from repentance and faith in Christ. No one will remain in a right relationship with God in this present world apart from continued obedience in the matters now commanded for us to comply with. Repentance must be enjoined to restore a broken relationship if we are to avoid self deception as to our final standing before God.

The word, Gospel," is a late addition the the names of the documents.

The good news is that Jesus died for the sins of the world and his resurrection is evidence that he accomplished his intent.

If there are ANY conditions for salvation, there are MANY conditions for salvation. The New Testament, in fact, teaches that there are MANY conditions for salvation.

Who will explain? I'll try.

The word, gospel, literally means good news or glad tidings. But to fully appreciate the good news you first have to understand the bad news.

• Mankind was created in the image of the Holy and Almighty God. The God who is worthy of worship and greatly to be praised. All wise and all everything perfect and just. Yet man chose to willfully sin against the Creator. Go figure.
• Therefore, every part of man is corrupted. His mind, his heart, his will, his speech, his thoughts, - everything. Even his body decays and dies.
• God STILL desires a relationship with His creation. He STILL desires for what He started to be completed. Mankind will never understand that in his present state. But God is also a God of wrath. And mankind - in his corruptible state - cannot appease the wrath of this God most Holy.

If one doesn't understand this - the gospel will be nothing more than a stumbling block or foolishness to them.

Here is the gospel.

• A blood-debt is the only thing that can satisfy the wrath of God. We cannot pay the blood-debt ourselves because we are corruptible.
• Therefore, the God of wrath showed His perfect Mercy and Grace and allowed His only Son - a part of His own nature. A Son - also the Creator. His only Son - begotton of God and yet God. He allowed the blood-debt to be paid with the sinless, faultless blood of His only Son - Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ who was from the beginning with God and came to earth as a servant and lowly man.
• He died quite literally - executed on a Roman cross. He was resurrected from the dead and the grave by God, Himself. He lives and reigns today as LORD and Savior of those who trust Him.
• The proof that God is a God of wrath is evidenced by the gift of mercy and grace and in the greatest act of love ever committed by God, Himself. We know that God cannot abide the corruptible sin nature of man because there was no other salvation except by the sinless nature and wrath-appeasing sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
• The proof of the wrath is the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. If there was no wrath, there would be no need for a sacrifice. And the sacrifice of Jesus Christ satisfied the wrath. Because there was a sinless sacrifice of the Lamb, the wrath is abated for the Christian.

It would be a lot easier to understand what you believe and are saying if you would just declare it.

I've been reading your posts and you mention little snip-its here and there and if asked about them, you say, "I believe the bible."

The Gospel is the "good news" of God's provision for sin in the finished works of Jesus Christ according to God's eternal purpose of redemption. His eternal purpose of redemption includes much more than the good news about Christ. However, it is the good news about Christ that is the object of saving faith and the essence or basis for justification by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone without works.

Hi to all , and in Matt 3:2 , REPENT ye , for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand .

Then in verse 11 , John says , I indeed BAPTIZE you with WATER unto REPENTNCE , but He that cometh after me is mightier than I , whose shoes I am not worthy to bear He shall BAPTIZE you with the Holy Spirit , and with FIRE .

All should notice that there are 3 Baptisms mention here .

#1 , with Repentance with WATER .

#2 , Jesus baptizing with the Holy Spirit .

#3 , Jesus baptism with FIRE .

And what does John mean , Repent , for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand ?

What about what Jesus says in Matt 4:17 , Jesus began to preach , , REPENT , for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand .

Is this not what will be preached DURING the Tribulation in Matt 24:14 , and this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world and then shall the end of the Tribulation come ?

When they preached the gospel, Christ's apostles called upon their hearers to repent, believe, and confess Christ in baptism. Those who obeyed the preached gospel did all three things. This was how people became Christians during the first century.

Scarlett, the problem I am having with what you say is that IF a blood debt was needed to satisfy the ”wrath of God,” you have a problem. God’s wrath is still to be poured out upon the wicked, showing forth that you of necessity must believe in a limited atonement. The debt paid and the wrath abated could only have been for a select few and not the entire debt owed by the whole world. Scriptures refute your position clearly when it states that Christ not only died for our sins but for the sins of the whole world.

The second problem is IF you would say the wrath of God was satisfied for the whole world when Christ died, then you set up the atonement as insufficient to do what you say it did, for again the wrath of God is still going to poured out in spite of the atonement already made. I see the theory you have bought into to as simply not according to the Word of God nor logically feasible.

So you deny imputed righteousness or legal righteous but believe the only righteousness is imparted righteousness?

So you deny substitutionary atonement?

So you deny EXTERNAL righteousness or being CLOTHED in the righteousness of Christ but believe in righteous manifested in good works alone.

True believers always continue believing "in Christ" as the only hope of salvation and never turn against Christ as their only hope of salvation (I Jn. 2:19).

However, they often fail in works. But works do not gain or lose heaven. Eternal life is a gift not a reward for obedience.

Obedience does gain or lose one aspect of salvation though! It gains or loses your daily life for God's glory and blessings now and for eternal reward in heaven. Only by being under the control of the Holy Spirit are we capable of "redeeming the time" (Eph. 5:17) as only the time we live under the Holy Spirit is being saved for God's glory and eternal reward. You can never recapture wasted moments, hours, days, weeks or years as they are lost forever and that is precisely why we are commanded to be filled with the Spirit (Eph. 5:18).

Lot is a good example of a saved man (2 Pet. 2:7-8) that for over 2000 years Jewish readers of the Old Testament could not find in the recorded story of His life in Genesis a characteristic life of righteousness but the last words about him end in drunkeness and incest. His hope for entrance into heaven was not in his obedience but in the obedience of Christ for him. However, no saved person like Lot can live that way and not suffer loss. He lost his witness before his family, he lost his family, he lost his honor, he lost his rewards, he lost his usefulness by God, he lost his assurance of salvation, he lost his peace of God, and he lost his reputation before all the world who reads his selfish account of his life, but "he himself was saved even as by fire."
