I can remember driving some trucks when I was a kid with the gas pedal on the floor, the clutch and brake on the floor, the starter on the floor and if I remember right the dimmer switch on the floor. A heater was installed later as an after market item.

My first car was a 54 Ford.

The first car I had with the dimmer switch on the turn signal lever was an '82 Escort. It also had the horn on the turn signal lever. I had a lot of fun with that one. Imagine the passanger lowering the visor and me pressing the horn without them seeing it. All they knew is that they moved the visor and the horn blew  . I had people scared to touch anything in my car.
