I was responding to your inane comment about the Obama administration. They weren't the ones who brought the case, prosecuted the case or declared him guilty. The fact that they are or are not guilty of any crimes doesn't mean anything about this man's guilt. Yell all you want about the IRS. Make that the point. BUT, whether they have done anything wrong has no relevance about this man's guilt.

People who are eager to condemn Hovind are just as eager to defend certain others. That was the point of my inane comment. Perhaps it was so inane it confounded your brilliance. Even so I humbly bow to your superior intellect.

Sorry, this seems simple to me.

Hovind didn't pay his taxes. He also went to pretty great lengths to avoid getting caught.

There could be arguments about his sentence length and severity...but he is a tax cheat.

And for that reason, he is qualified to run our nation's treasury.

(sorry...just had to sneak that last shot in)

I do not believe in conspiracy theories but facts. There are many theories out there that is of warped imaginations. You cant say that there are not some that are real just look what God says about it.There have been conspiracies there are conspiracies and there will be conspiracies andyou have Gods Word on it.

And the LORD said unto me,A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.{Jer 11:9}KJB

There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey;they have devoured souls;they have taken the treasure and precious things;they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.{Ezekiel 22:25}KJB

Take note for those that do not believe that a conspiracy or many conspiracies are possible in the Church age.

It doesn't matter what any of us think. Statutes determine what is criminal and what is not.

I pay my taxes. I think everyone else, including "Doctor Dino" should pay theirs as well.

Is it better to lie or stay silent?

Is it better to repeat a lie or stay silent?

Hovind didn't cheat on taxes or fail to pay them:
He paid the people who worked for him and they paid their own taxes.
He did refuse to be an agent for the IRS to collect and pay the taxes for them. Actually, on what bases in the constitution is the employer required to withhold taxes from the wages of an employee? Actually, on what constitutional bases is there for conscripting to service the accounting of an employer to act as the broker between the IRS and an employee without compensation? Is the church under the government of God and his leadership or is the church under the secular government? Who established the church and paid for it with his own blood? To whom does the church and its ministry belong? By what right does law have to tax the work of God or require government service of his ministers?

Jesus rebuked Peter for his answer to officials who asked if Jesus paid taxes..... yet he did pay them..... BUT me thinks his rebuke clearly shows his position but he would not be tempted by this situation from creating a detour from his limited time to complete his ministry and calling to be our savior.

Hovind can give the perception of an air of arrogance and condenscension but I'm not as sure that this perception is real or the consequence of the lack of boldness and confidence so lacking (and discouraged) in genuine Christianity and intolerated and ridiculed by the world as an accusation. Those outside the faith or who live on the borders of serving two masters certainly aren't lacking in their boldness in those who go against the gospel as they would write it or the science as they would teach it or the telling of lies and acting like all is truth. The laws which were used to prosecute Hovind were laws enacted for discovering money laundering by criminal activity such as drug dealing, selling stolen goods or buying and selling other contraband such as weapons ........ the banking disclosure laws which opens all legitimate accounts of money to suspicion if we withdraw too much cash from our own valid account or decide to keep our wealth at home and it exceeds a certain amount or are found traveling with 'too much cash' which is tapped out at $10,000. Now, where is it illegal or criminal under the constitution to be in possession of that cash which one owns and has legitimately earned.... even if it exceeds $10,000? The proof of criminal violation should not be the possession or withdrawal of ones own property but the cause by which it is acquired or used.... none of which were apparent in his case.

(Regarding Hovind's vp regarding creationism..... yes, there are some disputes between his interpretation of science and those of others who are also in the 'In the beginning God created' camp... but, I think, none of these involve the Bible's position, but the areas and correct applications of science.)

None of the public tabloids..... not even the local papers here, gave Hovind a fair representation so I'm not surprised that others more distant from the accusations and trials are persuaded that Hovind is a criminal. I'm sure the devil and the evolutionists are pleased that a great shadow was cast on another Christian's reputation, credibility, and an enemy to their humanistic causes!

Welllldoggy....

It might surprise you to know how much I have researched this particular topic. I know more than you think.

Hovind didn't just not pay his taxes. He tried to cover his tracks. That's wrong any way you look at it.

Face it, you aren't objective about this. Mr. Hovind...

  • Has disregarded Christ's command to "render unto Caesar." (direct disobedience to scriptural command)
  • Hovind has stated, "I don't know why I'm being charged." (Lie)
  • Hovind claims that he is employed by God, receives no income, has no expenses and owns no property. (Lie) He still offers $250K to anyone who can prove evolution. If he has nothing, where does the $250K come from?
  • Hovind failed to pay $473,818 in federal income, Social Security and Medicare taxes on employees. (Defrauding others)
  • Kent Hovind paid his employees in cash and labeled them "missionaries" to avoid payroll tax and FICA requirements. (Defrauding others; disobeyed scriptural command)
  • Hovind failed to obtain a building permit during the 2002 theme park construction.
  • Hovind has been charged with: Filing a frivolous lawsuit against the IRS, Filing a (false) injunction against an IRS special agent, Filing false complaints against the IRS for false arrest, excessive use of force and theft, and making threats against investigators and those cooperating with the investigation. (those are allegations, not convictions, in the sake of intellectual honesty...but none of these charges have been dismissed out of hand)
  • Hovind and his wife made scores of cash deposits to make the money untraceable. (bearing false witness; let "yes" be "yes")
  • Kent Hovind required his employees to sign nondisclosure agreements if they wanted to keep their jobs. (forced the complicity of others with his felony)
  • Hovind claims that his employer is God--to circumvent taxes. (Lie)
  • None of Hovind's businesses have a license. (see above)
  • Hovind claims he was "never notified" by the IRS...despite the numerous documented letters sent to him (reportedly unopened) by IRS officials. (Lie)
Now....it is rare for me to defend the IRS. In fact, I cannot remember doing it in a long while.

But...Hovind was at least wrong on method. The proper Scriptural method for civil disobedience is to disobey, then take your medicine. Appeals are OK (see Paul), but deception is not.

At the least, he failed in that arena.

So, quote at me all you want, the facts are not changed. My Scripture response? "I would not have you, ignorant, brethren..."

Alternate punctuation: "I would not have you, ignorant brethren..."

:D :D

Kent Hovind is an embarrassment to the Name of Christ. The best thing men like Haggard, Swaggart, and Hovind can do is quietly go away. They need to go pump gas or deliever pizzas or any low profile job. Hovind is a tax cheat, Haggard is a homosexual, and Swaggart was an adulterer. Even Jesus paid His taxes when He was on earth. Does Hovind think he is better than Jesus?

Actually, on what bases in the constitution is the employer required to withhold taxes from the wages of an employee?

==I would have to go back and look it up, but I and fairly certain that one of Hovind's arguments was that he worked for God and not for men and thus did not have to pay the taxes.

Is the church under the government of God and his leadership or is the church under the secular government?

==According to Scripture, as Christians we are to pay taxes (Rom 13:5-8). Paul wrote those words in an historical context in which taxes were far more burdensome than they are today. According to Scripture we are to "submit" to "every human institution", that is government (1Pet. 2:13-15). If we suffer, we are to suffer for the Name of Christ, not because we have broken the law (1Pet 4:12-16). Hovind disobeyed the law and he disobeyed Scripture. The only time Scripture allows us to disobey government is when obeying the government would put us in direct violation of God's commandments. That was true in the case of Daniel, John, Peter, and Paul, but it is not true in the case of Hovind. Jesus paid His taxes, Paul, Peter, and John, paid their taxes. Does Hovind believe himself better than the Lord Jesus Hismelf and the Apostles? He seems to think he is. Nobody is above the law. Not even Kent Hovind.

By what right does law have to tax the work of God or require government service of his ministers?

==Government is given a Scriptural right to tax everyone, Christians included (Rom 13:1-8, 1Tim 2:1-3, Titus 3:1-2, etc). Hovind's excuses do not rest upon Scripture. They are nothing but distortions coming from the mind of a very confused man.

I'm sure the devil and the evolutionists are pleased that a great shadow was cast on another Christian's reputation, credibility, and an enemy to their humanistic causes!

==Kent Hovind does not need the devil to cast a shadow over him, he does a good enough job of that by himself. When it comes to Hovind I will say this: At best he is a very confused man. At worse, he is con-artist who hids behind Christianity. The creation community rejects Hovind's pseudoscience. His little "theme park" is a money making disgrace, a joke. If you wish to see real Biblical creationists who work to get their facts right check out "Answers In Genesis" with Ken Ham or "The Institute for Creation Research". I don't always agree with them, but they are generally very good ministries. Certainly far more credible than Kent Hovind.

I would not wish to be handcuffed to Kent Hovind on the day of judgment.

Completely putting the creation/evolution argument aside, Kent Hovind is clearly a charlatain anf fraud. Not only is he a self-evident tax cheat, but he's also a fraud abotu his education. His supposed doctorate is fake, having obtained it from a degree mill (aka, pay us x dollars, and you get a degree). He never wrote a doctoral thesis as a condition for his fake degree.

And then there are the numerous claims he's made about his so-caled museum. Just for starters, he claimed to have on display a "giant" legbone, as evidence for claiming that giant humans existed in the past as per biblical account. In reality, though, the legbone was a 2x scale resin copy of a normal human legbone, which can be easily purchased from medical supply chains online (the 2x scale replicas are typically used for teaching or demonstration).

I'd go on to list even more of his falsehoods, but I dont' have that much time in the day. Suffice it to say that, regardless of where one stands on the evolution/creation issue, this man should absolutely not be used as a source for material. Doing so does nothing but damage the Christian witness.
Sources???

Pathetic remarks that do not reflect the love of Christ in any way.Have you people ever thought of praying for the man?I doubt it since you are to busy sending him to hell.

What will you do if forced civil laws are ever passed against Gods book will you then obey like a forced signing of a petition to show your support of forced abortion so you cant be arrested as a possible domestic terrorist?

Would you obey then and if not would you not then be disobeying God?

Then the table will be turned if you do not support and obey.

Its a crying pity to see the representatives of Christ throwing stones like this and im sure there are things in your closet hiding if ever known would destroy your witness for good.

Every idle word you shall give account theoreof on the day of Judgment and you have Gods Word on it.{Matt 12:36}KJB in case its missing in you bible.

Where isyour proof that Swaggart still practices adultery after his repentance and preaching the cross today and exposing the SBC`s pope Rick Warren whom is leading all the drunken prophets and flock to hell through his purpose driven marketing schemes?

Rick Warren is deceiving people on purpose and destroying the SBC`s and all who follow his Christless messages especially to Muslims.

You cant judge a mans heart but you can know their hearts through what they preach and Swaggart is Preaching Christ crucified and that sin will send you to hell and Jesus saves from sin not in sin and that when the preaching of the Cross is missing from a preachers messages then that preacher is not called by God indeed is self appointed and apostate.

Boot me see if I go to crying about it.
