My daughter and her husband write;

After almost 14 months of being off treatment, our world has once again been turned upside down when we learned that Kylie’s cancer has relapsed. It’s been an emotional time, but we are determined to stay strong for her as we face this next chapter in her fight. We are currently working with her oncology team to create a plan and determine the best treatment protocol moving forward.

We are grateful for the support we’ve received from family, friends, and everyone who has kept us in their thoughts and prayers. Kylie is a warrior, and we’re ready to fight alongside her every step of the way. Thank you for continuing to keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Childhood cancer is something that affects the whole family. Her younger sister has fear issues. Her young brother has never known a time when it wasn’t part of their family’s life.

Chemo starts (again) on Friday. They will see how she tolerates it. If it’s tolerable, the plan will be that every Friday they travel to Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital for the chemo.

Please pray for the spiritual health of their family as they follow this torturous, uncertain path.

I have just finished reading through this thread and I have no words that can convey the sorrow but also the hope that this gives me. Our minor trials pale in comparison to those Kylie and her family have had to endure.

God will strengthen those that lean on Him.

My prayers for Kylie and her extended family.

Kylie is feeling okay
She had her chemo port reinserted last week and began weekly IV chemo. She’ll take oral chemo daily at home. I’ve not been told about any side effects that she might be experiencing, but her parents keep some things hidden.

My wife left Wednesday to help them as they search out the future.

I'll try to give months updates.
The cancer Kylie has is rare. There is no set treatment protocol after a failed remission.
A few days after her chemo therapy was restarted, Kylie spent a day in the hospital with a high fever.
My daughter shaved her head yesterday, since her hair began falling out again.

Things to pray for:
She's dealing with nausea, vomiting, absence of appetite, irritability... and an active younger sister and brother, ...in a small house.
Kylie misses the social contacts with her friends at school.
As Kylie matures (~9 y.o. now) she is more aware of the seriousness of her illness. Pray for her to trust God amidst the storm.

Since both my wife and I are now retired we are more available to help them out.
My wife spent 2+ weeks with them during the first treatment and will help them again during the second round, later this week.
(Their house is small so I stay home for these extended visits)
We've talked about bringing my young grandson (3 1/2) home to stay with us a bit when my wife returns home.

Note that I sent this post to my wife so she could add Kylie to her Coleman ladies prayer list ( women who all have cancer situations throughout the USA and abroad.)

So far Kylie has finished ten weeks of chemotherapy. She has had a few busy days in Pittsburgh; she had another central line placed yesterday in preparation for stem cell retrieval, and they changed her feeding tube,
They did some blood work, she received a platelet and blood transfusion, and she even found some time to make some slime
Her blood work came back as hoped and showed enough stem cells to move forward with the stem cell retrieval (done earlier today).
Kylie seems to be doing well through it all.
