Greetings brothers and sisters ... ( :) )

I'm a 41-year-old born again follower of Jesus Christ. My wife and I volunteer as youth leaders for an SBC affiliated church in the St. Louis Metro area. We were called to that ministry in 2006. I've also since been ordained as a deacon.

Lately, the Lord has been teaching me that I have to work on pride and a tendency to want glorify myself instead of Him. I am thankful to Him for pointing this out to me and I am thankful for the evidence that He continues the work He began in me.

I look forward to participating in the forums.

First birth ... Second birth ca. 8/2004 in Bell Mountain wilderness.

The name sounds familiar but I do not know Jim Goforth Jr. personally.

In reference to the name ... I have told the kids somewhat jokingly that I know why the Lord didn't make me rich. I'd have a tendency to purchase 1000 acres, build a house in the middle of it and surround the property with electric fencing and machine gun nests... Certainly not how we're called to live!

Bro.Hermit....welcome and I hope your "tenure" here will be long and fruitful. This board is not a "church" in the normal sense but it is a fellowship of believers (and a few that may not be...just like in any physical church). May your fellowship here be full of grace and truth. I may have to send you a private message sometime since you are from the St. Louis area. I have an ex-daughter-in-law and two precious grandchildren that live there that I don't get much contact with. They need the Lord. Maybe you and your wife could make contact with them. Who knows....the Lord moves in mysterious ways.:thumbsup:
