So what happened to Paul and CTB? I really want to discuss the repercussions of this alleged "good thing."

Minimum wage is just that- not meant to support a family on- it's for entry level work. It's not even a Constitutional concept as far as I am concerned- and that is the first problem with it.

MInimum wage $9.00 per hour....gas prices nearly over $4.00 per gallon, which raises commodities, which affects rent rates, which affects cost of living over all..., $12.00 an hour is more like it...

Then why not 15 or 20, 25, how about $30 per hour?

Do liberals REALLY think it's an employer's responsibility to lift people out of poverty ? Holy cow.

That is the stupidest thought I have ever heard conveyed here.

Wow! What a caring person you are. What a wonderful boss you would be, so concerned about the welfare of others. Amazing!

And do you conservatives hate people so much you want to keep them in poverty? You say the government should not help people and now you say employers owe their employees nothing. Most Christian sentiments you have there friend.

Why is it that everyone who disagrees with liberal politics "HATES" other people? If I quote the Bible with verses that support traditional marriage, suddenly I "HATE" those who disagree.

As to Christian sentiments and the government, please reference scripture that states it's the responsibility of government to lift people out of proverty. Please reference the part of the Consititution that states it's the role of the federal government to lift people out of proverty.

The scriptures tell us not to pick the fields clean during the harvest. To leave a little for the poor to gleen. It says nothing about paying a minimum wage to the workers harvesting the crop. (Please correct me, if I'm wrong and cite the applicable scriptures.) Scripures also tell us the poor should gleen the fields themselves. No where that I remember does the Bible say for the farmer to gleen their fields, themselves, and then give those gleenings to the poor.

And, as Christians, what are we supposed to do about the verses that state the poor will always be with us? How can we "fix" what God has ordained?

The Bible also states if a person doesn't work that person shouldn't eat. The scriptures don't have a stipulation that states if you don't earn "minimum wage" that exempts you from having to work. A couple of years ago, I tried to hire some migrant workers, from the farm next door, to do some work for me, on the days they were not working on that farm. (Times when they were NOT earning money on that farm.)

To make a long story short, I could not afford to pay them the rate per hour their contract with the farmer demanded. Not for the type work I needed to have done around my home. We both lost. I didn't get the help I needed, and those workers did not have the opportunity to put extra money in their pockets.

As often stated, I grew up in poverty. According to the "standards" I still live in poverty. Yet, I am rich! Yes, I am rich! Flip a switch and the lights come on. Press a button and the furnace fires up. Turn a tap and water flows. Drive to church on Sunday, and FREELY worship our Saviour. Dial 911 and help is here within a few minutes.

Liberals seeking solutions in all things from the government should take a hard look at true poverty. Pause for a moment and look at those starving in third countries. How often, here, do we have outbreaks of cholera and dysentery? How many times do we see children with bloated bellies from starvation? How much of our land is stripped bare of every twig to provide fuel for a fire to cook a meager meal? How many of those countries are jumping on the lastest fad diet to lose weight. Or, spend endless hours pedaling stationary bikes to go no where?

The word "poverty", for the most part, takes on a far different meaning in this country. I wear Wal-Mart jeans. Please tell me where it's my Christan neighbor's responsibility to make sure I have a designer label plastered on my butt? The Bible? The Constitution? The government taking from my neighbor and giving to me?

I've thought about it. The higher priced fast food (junk food) might persuade people to start eating real food. The major contributors to the obesity epidemic might lose business and cause poor eating habits to decline; thereby heart disease, diabetes, orthopedic issues and other obesity related morbidity rates would lower which in turn would help to slow the upcoming detrimental healthcare rate effects on the working class and also increase production.

IMO, if the fast (junk) food places where to go under and thereby cause people to start eating smarter at home the extra buck and a half or so to mininum wage earners would be covered several times over in health care savings for everyone.

It is very simple Old, their own words posted show contempt, no concern and hatred toward others. Simple as that.
all Curtis said was its not an employers responsibility to lift someone out of poverty. You actually agree with him, but you think its the governments job. Does that make you equally hateful?

To me, there is little more disgusting than someone who demands others give more.

The rest of your post is red herrings, suppositions, personal attacks, and outright fabrication, (in other words, a typical post from you)and is not worth my time.

Boy, did Jesus show hatred and contempt when he replied to the gentile woman who wanted him to heal her daughter that "It is not right to take the children's food and throw it to the dogs"?
