What does the Wizard of Oz, Halloween, and Reformation Day have in common?
you know what i like doing...getting the Wizard of Oz on DVD and taking Pink Floyd's: Dark Side of the Moon CD and syncing the two...Start the DVD and after the third roar of the lion that's in black and white...push play on the DSotM CD and turn the DVD volume down...it's amazing...

Floyd is sad though. I based most of the slide cartoons from things in the movie, so if you like Oz trivia or analyzing movies, you might like the slide references on the other page. And, you have to keep your good sense of humor in the world... can't let the witch get your dog

This is one comment ie:
29. Back to the good witchcraft side of the equation.

Actually Toto is also Latin for “in total”, so the lines at the end of Oz between
Dorothy and Glenda are actually a play on words if you think that the good witch should also be killed.

So it reads:
Dorothy: “total” two?
Glenda: Total two.

Come on Dorothy, get the third witch. She’s been trying to get you the whole movie! “Total Three”.

Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Rom 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God,
which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen

For Halloween - The Secret of Dorothy's Magic Slippers

Dorothy’s magic slippers – epilogue.
https://sites.google.com/site/wizardofoz10312010/home/dorothy-s-magic-slippers

With all the major protagonists in the Wizard of Oz killed or arrested in the parody, it might be asked what about Dorothy bringing back the broom of the wicked witch of the west? The wizard of Oz has been exposed as a wizard of “God”, and Glenda as “divine goodness”, using the etymology of their names. With no more wizard of God, who can Dorothy bring a broom back to? However, there is one more thing at the end of the movie, of a similar nature, which are Dorothy’s magic slippers. It presents itself as a bit of a riddle in the movie, which changed the color of the slippers from silver to ruby color, and also is part of a somewhat ironic remark when the doorman of the Emerald city on seeing Dorothy, with the Scarecrow saying she is wearing the Ruby slippers, exclaims that that’s a horse of a different color (shortly followed by a horse of different colors).

It is the magic slippers that Dorothy walked through all of Oz with, not a broom. And it’s the magic slippers that the movie and the book emphasize slightly more, and what brings Dorothy back home. They are actually more important to the plot. Therefore, for Halloween, the secret of Dorothy’s magic slippers will BE REVEALED (in living color). It will be completely in keeping with the books of Oz, with the parody “cartoon / skit” and slide references previously posted (and linked here), and will also say something about living in the real world. God bless.

Halloween 2010 – Dorothy’s Magic Slippers Will be Posted Here

Ok, its over.

The Wizard of Oz is a parody of Pilgrim's Progress. Although any number of people have noted parallels between the Wizard of Oz and the bible, it more directly comes from Pilgrim's Progress, where a number of things are directly parodied in Wizard of Oz, including the enchanted ground and Madame Bubble. And the characters in Wizard of Oz are going to the Emerald city instead of the Celestrial city. L Frank Baum also directly mentions Pilgrim's Progress in Scarecrow of Oz, where he makes a bad pun about a pilgrim's progress and bunyans - the author of Pilgrim's Progress.

That last is the secret of Dorthoy's magic slippers. That the book is really a parody of Pilgrim's Progress, and that they aren't magic at all, they are her Christian walk, which seems otherwordly when actually practiced (the world turned upside down - loving your enemies for instance is not very explainable to the world). If there is any lesson here, its be careful
that you give the glory to God so all men may praise him - else they may think its magic :tonofbricks:

Southern Baptist church stages Wizard of Oz extravaganza:

http://annistonstar.com/view/full_s...magines-the-beauty-of--Oz-?instance=2nd_right

it won't be a traditional Sunday service today at Hill Crest, and that's the way Pastor Rick Reaves likes it.

Dawn Hedgepeth as Dorothy and Johnny Kelley as Satan are shown in a scene from a fanciful play being staged at Hill Crest Baptist Church.

When the curtains peel back on the lighted stage, a yellow brick road, large cardboard flowers, and a heavenly rainbow-colored backdrop come to life.
