Thanks. Interesting stuff. It sounds like the Martin family had no problem with Hanegraaf for 15 years until they had a disagreement about philosophy. I happen to personally, like the direction the ministry has gone. CRI has been incredibly successful and has done a lot of good. We need someone like Hanegraaf with the courage to take a stand against counterfeit Christianity. </font>[/QUOTE]Yes, we definitely need someone to take a stand against counterfeit Christianity! I listen to Hank's show all the time and sometimes he has these people on tape in their own words talking about ridiculous things! Most of these are from so called Christian tv. (what a joke!) People like Benny Hinn, and all the heatlh wealth preachers.
The only thing I don't care for while listening to his show is all the ten dollar words he uses. I wish he would speak like a normal person, in simple terms. lol
Last year, we were listening to him one night and Hank was talking about salvation. My son started asking different questions about it. Well that evening my oldest son was saved.

I will forever be his fan and I pray he keeps the faith and God keeps him strong in spirit.

Oh, and I really enjoyed his book too, 'The Last Disciple'. I thought it was very interesting.

Someone should ask the Bible Answer Man when Revelation was written. And why he prefers the term Exegetical Eschatology over preterism.

Incredible. The man cannot hold a candle to Walter Martin. The Martin family is disbelieved on the manner in which Hanegraaff took over CRI. The ex-employees are disbelieved. Excuses are made for Hanegraaff. First it was said that you could not believe anything that was not in writing. Then when given 3 different links in writing, you have said that all that doesn't matter.

I doubt if any of you who defend Hanegraaff really knew much about Walter Martin or liked him.

Ladies and gentlemen, only on the Baptist Board....

I hope he agrees with the accurate mid-60's date. [IMG]

I'll concede that there is much I need to learn about Walter Martin. I certainly respect him. I'm a little surprised that you can't give Hanegraaf some credit though.

Martin was an SBC preacher and you are taking the word of Hanegraaff over the widow of the preacher. Why should I give any credit to Henegraaff for what he did? You are the one that I question for giving Hanegraaff any credit other than being a smooth operator. Do you want me to say that Hanegraaff is one of the slickest men ever to commandeer a research institute?

Want more on Hanegraaff, ask D. James Kennedy. Hank at one time worked for him. He plaglarize one of James books, James was very upset. Evangelical Explosion, I believe was the name of Dr. Kennedy's book. Dr. Kennedy had a letter out about it at one time.

Hank has been biblically sound on his dotrine with everything I have ever heard him say. (If I don't know what he's talking about, then I usually look it up to see.)

Where people tend to disagree with him is his views on end times, but like Hank says that is an 'in house' debate. Christian's can disagree with certain issues right? I see nothing wrong with that. As long as it has nothing to do with the foundation of our faith.

I have never heard of W.Martin till today though. If he was the founder of CRI then I'm sure he was a great man and Christian. I'll have to look into that sometime.

What people disagree about with Hank is his personal ethics.

I have never heard such a thing till today. That's really disturbing, and that's really hard for me to imagine.
But it's not like I have put him on a pedastool either.

Right on. If a person lacks character and personal ethics, why should anyone pay any attention to what they have to say, especially when it comes down to smearing the brethren? As Christians, we are supposed to be transparent - even with how we conduct ourselves in business - beyond reproach!

    http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2003/008/6.19.html

Now, this is about someone who has no problem pointing fingers at others. This money was given as a charitable contribution - for ministry - NOT for these types of uses. :(

That's all I have to say about the matter. As previously noted, I have no use for this man or his ministry and it has nothing to do with his eschatological beliefs. A person who cheats will steal, and a person who steals will lie.

I said earlier that I have read Martin's writings for years, since the '70's I think. I liked him, I thought he was great.

Now you have introduced something that I have never heard of before. I'd like to see Hanegraaff's side of the argument. I'm not here to defend him, but I won't pass judgement without seeing both sides.

As PatsFan pointed out, it has the appearance that everything was fine for a lot of years, until someone didn't like the direction that he was running the ministry.

If I had more information, including his side of the story, and it led me to the conclusion that he's unethical, I have no problem whatever drawing the same conclusion that you have.

Lady Eagle, can you believe these people? And thank you for the link to Christianity Today. The Lord bless you!

We have D. James Kennedy plus three links to family and ex-employees and now a link to Christianity Today and people are still defending Hank. No wonder the world laughs at Christians if they won't clean their own house.

Can you save me some time, and link me to something that gives Hanegraaff's side of the story, from him? I'm curious, open, and want to figure this out. "Family and ex-employees" could have an axe to grind, and believe it or not, Kennedy and Christianity Today could be wrong. BTW, before you jump down my throat, I watch Kennedy, read his books, and send him money.

I agree. I'd like to see what the ECFA's final ruling is before I pass judgment. So far, they have not come down too hard on HH:

QUOTE FROM CT: "But ECFA also said it had found no evidence that 'the deficiencies were willful on the part of the ministry' or that 'the ministry's effectiveness or outreach had been compromised.' Nelson characterized CRI's actions as 'naïve.'"

Lady Eagle, these people have gotten everything that they asked for and they still are not satisfied. Can you believe them? Talk about high-minded.... I guess this is some sort of a game and if a widow gets defrauded, well then we can always say that it was not my widow. I should think that the incident with D. James Kennedy would be enough to satisfy these people.

We have to give some credit to Hank. He is as smart as a whip and able to memorize things by merely looking at them and reading them. However, he seems to come up with anything on his own much. He takes over the ideas of others and presents his version.

There is a good book on the subject of intellectuals and their lives outside of Christ, Lady Eagle. It is by Paul Johnson and it is called The Intellectuals. Read it if you have a strong stomach. Take the case of Picasso, for example. Do you know that only one woman got away from him without going insane?

The death of CRI at the hands of this imposter is hard enough without these people trying to justify it. I never saw such people as these people.

Since the discussion has gone this far it should be noted that Kennedy actually sued Hanegraaff over the alleged plagiarism of the book. I don't know if the lawsuit has been resolved. A year or two ago I read a point by point response to the accusations (or maybe the other way around). It was disturbing at the time since I had been listening to the BAM for several years - but it was hard to brush aside since it was James Kennedy alleging plagiarism, and not some extremist.

Years ago HH was associated somehow with Mt.Paran Church of God here in Atlanta. I think it was during that time that Kennedy actually 'tutored' or 'mentored' HH. Anyway, as far as I know CRI has been silent about it - you can't blame them.

I don't have enough info to make a judgement, but I read the info LadyEagle posted about 6 months ago and it just creates more smoke. HH is a high profile, orthodox brother and the last thing the church needs is a public hashing of this kind of dirty laundry. Maybe HH will answer some of these allegations soon. I pray God will take care of it all with as little damage as possible to the Body.
