I have recently left a Free Will Baptist church for doctrinal differences. I have visited six different churches, some were IFB, some SBC. I had been in the other church for years, and had not looked around, and took it for granted, that all Baptist Churches still preached against sin, and also preached the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. After visiting all of these churches, and finding that none of them seemed to be more than a carnal christian entertainment center, we went to a church where they weren't afraid to preach the gospel, to a lost and dying world. Thank God, that there are still some churches that have a desire for the souls of the lost. HAS EVERYONE GOTTEN SOFT ON SIN?

Hi,
I agree it is getting more and more difficult to find Biblical churches. I believe what the Bible teaches on this subject that in the last days many will just want to have their ears tickled and will line up for themselves teachers who do this very well.
If you want to hear some good Bible preaching visit www.charityministries.org Their cassettes are free ona donation basis. They are anabaptist and preach the Word without fear.

There are a lot of us that still preach against sin. We make it clear, name the sins, and call for repentance. Sorry you have a hard time finding a place. Don't get an Elijah complex though. There are a lot of us fundamentalists who haven't backed down one bit.
I don't know if I'd call it a complex....yet.
But it is a little discouraging, when six out of six, were either so dry, and spiritless, that when you left, you had to stop and get a big gulp mountain dew, to perk back up. Or hear messages that are clearly intended to "equip" the saints for church service, and not evangelizing the lost.

Yep, we've got alot of churches around here that only preach the 'smooth things'...not wanting to offend anyone...never mind offending GOD! Many churches are afraid of losing their 501(c)(3) status that they have become dumb dogs that cannot bark! (Isaiah 56:10) Where are the preachers that usta cry aloud and spare not?! (Isaiah 58:1) They are few and far between...but there are still some out there. I pray that you will be able to find one near you!

Can you use the Bible to back up your statements, SBG?
Do you have that many immature believers in your church, Siegfried?..... I'm afraid, in our quest for knowledge, we have lost sight of the main theme. How can we concern ourselves with the "deep things" of God's word, when we can't even get the little things like "not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together" for example?

SBG, I don't see what those passages have to do with preaching to the lost in all services. If worship is to be centered on God, why do you indicate that it needs to be centered on lost man?

I know of churches that are so set on reaching
the lost that they ignore the needs of the found.
The found are the ones who are to go out and
reach the lost; it is not merely the pastors' job.
If, however, the found are not equipped in basic
teaching, minimally, how can they evangelize?

It is indeed sad, when a church ignores or neglects the needs of the "found". Does that happen? I've never seen it, but I'll say that it probably does. But, the Lord didn't instruct us to get into a church to have OUR needs met. We are here for only one purpose, and that is to spread the gospel to the lost. If worship was the only reason...what would be the need to be here after we get saved?

Worship is the reason we evangelize. Consider John 4:23:
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
What was Christ's mission? It was to seek and to save those who are lost.
So, Christ will save those who need to be worshiping God.
Out like Hyles' attitude of evangelism.
