See that's the problem JD, we don't know what day the High Day Sabbath for the Passover fell that week.

If it fell on Sat. the weekly Sabbath and those 2 days were combined in one Sabbath, that would be a Fri. crucifixion. Jesus being crucified on Fri. on the preparation day before the Sabbath. That would mean Christ was in the tomb for one day and two nights, when He said He would be in the tomb 3 days and 3 nights. As far as I'm concerned a Fri. crucifixion is impossible.

The same for a Thur. crucifixion, that would mean the High Day fell on Fri. with Christ crucified on Thur., that would be 2 days and 3 nights in the tomb.

The only one that fits, in my opinion is a Wed. crucifixion. The High Day fell on Thur. and Christ crucified on the day before, Wed., with this Christ would have been in the tomb 3 days and 3 nights as He said.
We are having a disconnect here. I do not know about a high day and wonder if the scriptures tells us about it. I have followed the writings of Mark and John and can definitely follow an 8 day blueprint for the whole week and the beginning of a new week. In this blueprint Jesus is in the tomb only one full day as we would define a full day. The day in the tomb is a metaphor for the one thousand year day called in scripture "the day of the LORD. It is called a day of rest. Jesus had finished his work of redemption. He had worked for 6 days and there is one day left. When the women came to anoint Jesus body he had just been put in the tomb. That was day 1. In the thinking of a Jew any part of a day counts for the full day. Jesus rose from the dead very early on the eighth day. It was counted as a full day.

If we get this right we will learn two things. The Bible is a spiritual book wherein even this must truth be taught of the Spirit, and two, there will no be post mil or amil but we will know the thousand years in Re 20 is a day as God counts a day. The seven day crucifixion week is a picture of the seven thousand years of human history in this 7 day redemptive cycle. I have shown each day of the 7 in John and Mark with this ending in Matthew.

1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

It is not the end of the high day on Wednesday..

Here is a corresponding prophetical metaphorical addition to the story. This has the end of the "day of the Lord," picturing the full day in the tomb. The Sabbath rest of Christ. The beginning of a new day. Everything will be new in this day. The end of this day "day of God," which is an eternal day with no night.

10 But the "day of the Lord" will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Note: When the text says "in the which" these things will happen to the earth and heavens and the elements, please understand the events will happen as described sometime in the day. It is not when the day of the Lord first comes but we know these events will end the day of the Lord and begin the Day of God. Re 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Another way of looking at the day of God is that it is called and rightly so, the eighth day, because it is. The number 8 is used by God for "new" things.

Ok, that's fine, no need to argue it.

For the sake of clarifying, I totally agree the Church began at Pentecost with the arrival of the Holy Spirit to guide it.

What I'm saying is contrary to Covenant Theology in that God while working mightily through the Church is at the same time getting ready, the prestages of bringing Israel out of their blindness that Paul spoke of. It will be over time, maybe a long time, but I can see it coming as plain as the nose on my face.

Brother you should study the 7 High Sabbath Days and understand them. I will list them here for you to look up with the chp. and verse.

The High Day in question with the crucifixion of Christ is the First Day of Unleavened Bread.

The plural "sabbaths" is a personal interpretation in that version.

It's not found in the KJV or even hints at the plural.

There were 3 Sabbath days that took place within 10 days after the crucifixion. But they were all after the crucifixion.

The First Day of Unleavened Bread, Nisan 15 with the crucifixion on the 14th, Nisan.

The weekly Sabbath on Sat.

The Last Day of Unleavened Bread, Nisan 21.
