Hate the sin and love the sinner?

    I think the Biblical postition toward the sinner himself is, "Hate the sinner but love the sinner." That is to say, hate the sinner for who and what he is and yet have compassion and concern for the redemption of his soul and act in love toward him.

    This is what God has done for all who have been redeemed. He despised our person and yet treated us with compassion and love - in spite of ourselves. Should we do more or less for those who are in an unregenerate state?
