Who "outlawed" the Geneva in America then? Wasn't the Geneva the Bible of choice by the pilgrims of the early 1600's???
The crown outlawed the Geneva Bible in American (prior
to the revolution. This effectively killed it. But a few copies
survived unto this age and it is now available in electronic
(read: 'can be Googled') form.
Here is how you get saved according to the
Geneva Bible:
Rom 10:9-10 (Geneva Bible, 1587 Edition):
For if thou shalt confesse with thy mouth
the Lord Iesus, and shalt beleeue in thine heart,
that God raised him vp from the dead,
thou shalt be saued:
10 For with the heart man beleeueth
vnto righteousnes, and with the mouth
man confesseth to saluation.
If your Bible
s don't say
UP in Romans 10:9 are you really saved

[this is a sarcastic humor, it is NOT a suggesting that any person
living or ed is NOT SAVED /I have no authority to do that/ ]
I call. What proof?
I understand the
KJV1762 Oxford Edition and the
KJV1769 Cambridge Edition cost
£3, of which £1 went to the Crown
of England. I suspect £1 was about
3 months wages for a skilled craftsman.
There were uniquely American Prints of
the KJV
s which proudly bore the
lie: "AUTHORIZED VERSION". None of the
price of them when to the Crown.
It was 'unAmerican' to buy the KJV
s
and pay homage/bribes/bounty to the Crown of England.
Not until the middle of the 20th century (1901-2000,
the middle would be 1950)
could you find 10,000 people who would say
the KJV
s were better then other Bible
s.
