Agreed, Mexdeaf. I always shudder a little when I hear charity efforts called "missions." It is only obeying the Great Commission if it is getting the Gospel out. Charity efforts are laudable, but IMO they become the Social Gospel (an end in themselves) when they are considered missions even when they don't include evangelism.Mexdeaf said:Well, I am probably going to step in it here but...
Although it may include providing for the needs of the poor and hungry, that is not what missions is all about. Missions is primarily about meeting the spiritual needs of people.
May we never be amost those who say, as James quotes, "...Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body...", however we must keep the main thing the main thing.
