Have You Ever Known.............

................that as a Christian, something was not quite right between you and the Lord, and that it had gone on too long. Did you ever have a hunch that something was going to happen in your life to correct the situation, and something actually did shorty after?

It is called chastening in regard to conviction. The Lord never chastens a child for something they know nothing about.

Yes to both.

Often believers do not attend to the "still small voice" of prodding, and God allows the sledgehammer of fate.

I look back and see both at work - God has certainly shown Himself faithful even in my unfaithfulness.

Agreed, and praise the Lord for that!

2Ti 2:13 NASB - If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

On more than one occasion I'm sad to say.

I have found that God's was of getting our attention doesn't always involve things like car wrecks, sometimes it's just a still, small voice. Either way, God know what to do and when to do it.

God's chastening should reassure that we are his children. The Father deals with his children.

I can tell you from personal experience, it is no fun when the Father gets after you.

When I used to have Direct TV, we had The Church Channel, and Walter Pearson, Jr. used to have a show on it. He is SDA, but I really enjoyed what little I heard him......granted, he didn't divulge a whole lot of the SDA beliefs, and I know very little of their "core" beliefs, but anyhoo....

He made a statement about God chastening His children. It wasn't Him being mean to them, but used the chastening as the way to bring His children back into line. I really enjoyed hearing him say that! :jesus:  :godisgood:

I did not mean you do not know about what you are doing. One knows well what they are doing unpleasing to the Lord. I meant, you have a hunch the Lord is about to do something about it, maybe even after several warnings.

From personal experience with the Lord, He is very gracious in needed discipline in correcting the course of a wayward Christian. At first, it is small nudges, hints hunches, and the like. If that does not work, He will get your attention, maybe by some type of medium step, maybe by you finding yourself on a hospital bed with a long recovery ahead.

We are always talking about assurance of salvation, or are you really saved. One good way to know is the pattern of getting away from God, because if you are a Christian, He will deal with you, 100% guaranteed. If you know you are living a life worthy of the devil, and nothing happens over an extended period, that is a sure sign that one better repent, believe what Jesus did on the cross, but their faith in Him, and come to salvation.
