I just wrapped up a really tough 10 months. As many of you know I’m fighting cancer, CL leukemia to be exact. Back last February I was going through some immunoglobulin infusions when I suffered a stroke on my right side. I’ve gained some movement back in my arm but none in my fingers to be of any use to me. I can’t sign my name I can’t snap my fingers can’t count money. I can still play a little guitar nothing like I used to but it is good to strum and sing. I’ve dealt with it OK and I haven’t become too bitter. I also just finished up six months of chemotherapy treatments in December and now they’re telling me I have a spot on my liver that they want to look at. It wasn’t there six months ago. This is on top of the fact that my band played a New Year’s gig at a pretty nice place and my very good friend the drummer was killed on the way home from it. A guy fell asleep at the wheel and crossed into his lane. This guy and I were very good friends we were very close and he was an observant Jew, who by his own admission did not know Jesus.

I want you to know that I am still praising God for my salvation and await what he has coming for me.

As a quick sidenote if you notice me checking your page a lot, I’m not really checking it I’m just having a hard time clicking on the right buttons. Some people here have hundreds of clicks from me but they’re all errant. I’ve been having to learn how to use a mouse with my left hand. I can almost tie my shoe with one hand. I used to love to cook but I have a hard time with a knife now. I’ve gotten pretty good at buttoning my shirt. I bought some left-handed scissors so I could trim my beard. I think if I stay faithful and prayerful I’ll be able to continue to have a productive life and find plenty of things to be thankful for. God is good.

Also have had a stroke - left side - followed a few months later by 2 heart failures.
I now have a pace maker installed.

I remember being much more involved paralytically on my left side so things can and do get better.

I'm praying for you.

So it turns out that chemotherapy can reactivate your chickenpox virus if you had them as a child and you end up with shingles. Who knew ?

My advice to everybody just to get your shingles vaccination if you can. Shingles is debilitating painful open sores on your face misery.

Yes, shingles can be debilitating, even quite dangerous. Better to get the shots, if you can handle them.
