Matthew 7
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Hell does not have open borders:

23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

"...for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat." [Quoted from post #2.]
It's an easy entry is what was meant.
And it's hard to fathom how a walled border is such a 'mean-spirited' idea compared to not being allowed to alleviate the suffering one iota for those condemned.

ANOTHER passage misapplied by the evangelicals. Look hard, there's no mention of heaven or hell in the text.

(Just asking for a friend) What does "destruction" mean, Kentucky, if not hell? And what does "life" mean if not "eternal life"?

I'm thinking friend, an adequate answer may require a thread of it's own, but suffice to say audience relevance has everything to do with approaching this passage.
