Southern Baptist and attorney from scenic Arkansas here. Married with two kids -- a son who is 20-years-old and is in the Navy; a daughter who is 16-years-old, a sophomore in high school and is dating the son of a man who I have known since we were 7-years-old and in elementary school (and that's just strange).

Welcome. I'm on the way to Little Rock now. Pull in tomorrow evening and there for two weeks at lovely Camp Robinson. Any recommendations for services next Sunday?

I'm biased, but I have nothing but good things to say about First Baptist Church of Benton -- located downtown and about 25 miles southwest of Little Rock. The church is one year older than the state herself and has been home to my family for about four generations. Visit it online here.

Now, if you want something closer, Geyer Springs First Baptist Church is in Little Rock and is right on I-30 -- easy to find. Check it out online here.

Camp Robinson, eh? National Guard, then?

Well, thank you for your service!

I hope your stays here have been pleasant.

I see you are from North Carolina. My little brother is an optometrist in Greensboro.
Thank you.

My last trip was rather momentous. Was able to take a young guy from Maine to a Chik-fil-a and a Waffle House for the first time.

Clearly, the fellow was culture starved. Thank goodness he found someone willing to let him experience how great hash browns can be and why the original chicken sandwich is still the best...

Turkey Scratch? I had to look that one up -- its deep in the Delta.

I only remember it because it's a funny name.

Here's a picture of her brother in front of the old Turkey Scratch general store:

Awesome. And, it seems Levon Helm (of The Band) was from Turkey Scratch. I knew he was an Arkansan, but I didn't know which town he called home.

Levon was her brother. I happen to be a huge fan of Levon and The Band. When she told me she was his sister, I thought somebody put her up to it, knowing what a big fan I am. But she took me inside and showed me her scrapbook and memorabilia. She and her daughter promised to take me up to one of his "Midnight Rambles" and introduce me to him, but he passed away before I could do that.

That is an awesome story. Very, very cool.
