Hello From Kentucky

I have not eaten them but being as I like onions I would most likely like them also. I have seen recipes calling for ramps too that I think would be delicious.

IMO, they really shine as scallions, but the foraging window for these is brief, about the same as morels.

Ah, mushrooms...you guys had me confused there for a bit.;)

I couldn't figure out what a "ramp" was, except something I put my truck on and change the oil.
...or something one gets on the interstate highway from. :)

I thought I already answered it. Yes, I love ramps. How else can I change the oil in my car? :) :D ;)

I have question being city mouse me... I understand what ramps are they are wild leeks that grow in the forest... I also understand that morels are wild mushrooms that also grow there... I get my leeks and mushrooms from the grocery store, (yeah city mouse me), so if you prepared the wrong mushrooms you might meet your maker sooner than you wanted to... So from city mouse to country mouse, How do you all keep from poisoning yourselves!... Brother Glen:eek:

Easy. Any leeks are in the bathroom and morels I don’t have.

Nothing against ramps, but I consider authentic buckwheat cakes the best indicator of hillbilly-ness. Like the kind they make in Kingwood, WV.

Even Gatlinburg doesn't make em right. Too fluffy and sweet, like a pancake. They should be flatter with a hint of sourness to them.
