Thanks for the clarity I wasn't aware of this. In Washington state spanking is not allowed.

 

My grandfather came here from Norway. He emigrated on his own when he was thirteen. I have no idea where he is from except for the description of the location of the farm he grew up on. It was across the "lake" from Oslo. But, that was a long, long time ago, at the turn of the century around 120 years ago.

Yes, spanking laws vary by state, and what is officially on the books may not be what is enforced or in practice in every county.

One of my stepfathers was Norwegian. I know his mother was born in Norway, but I am not sure about him. My mom divorced him while I was quite you.

I was held to some very very strict rules growing up, in the United States and abroad, at home and in school and in the church, but they were often not done in love. It has tainted by understanding of God the father.

 

Thankfully God is more than able to reveal his love to you now. I'm sure that as you get to know him better you will see that love more clearly.

 

It is different now. I am experiencing a role as daughter that I had never experienced before. I heard people talk about this issue, but I did not imagine what they meant, and disbelieved them that it was important.
