I have a wonderful sister in our congregation who tells me that she begins each day with her children by praying to "bind" Satan from their home.
I do not believe that is correct theology.
I want to write her something which would benefit her, and desire your help finetuning it.
Here is what I thought to send her...please add suggestions/revisions to this, if you are led by the Lord to do so.
Thank you!!
What was bound Biblically in the Bible?
What can we bind today?

Ps. 149:2 Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.
3 Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.
4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.
5 Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.
6 ¶ Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand;
7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;
8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;
9 To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the LORD.
Christ is foretold as binding up the brokenhearted as His Work of Salvation.
Isaiah 61:Isa 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
The Lord shall save Israel.

The following two verses speak of binding and loosing believers, not demons. The first speaks of binding in terms of salvation....whatever is bound on earth is bound in Heaven, and vice versa. The second comes in the context of disfellowship over unrepentant sin.
Mt 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Mt 18:18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

What can we do or say directly, to Satan?
We can resist him.
436 anyisthmi anthistemi anth-is’-tay-mee
from 473 and 2476; ; v
AV-resist 9, withstand 5; 14
1) to set one’s self against, to withstand, resist, oppose
2) to set against
Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
What resisting Satan means is found in two other passages....
Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand <436> in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
The context: 10 ¶ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Our weapons against Satan? Knowing our Bible very, very well (Truth), being given His Righteousness through the Holy Spirit, witnessing/spreading the gospel and having faith in God.
1Pe 5:9 Whom resist <436> stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
In context: Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8 ¶ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
Satan looks to devour us, but we can resist/withstand him by being steady in the faith.
So, while I do not believe the Bible specifically states we bind Satan from us, we can indeed withstand him by continuing fervently in our Christian walk!
What do you think?
What Scriptures were you using to base binding Satan on?
I do not believe that is correct theology.
