Here’s How the New Christian Left Is Twisting the Gospel

I will only speak from a Reformed perspective. The Bible is the only source of inerrant truth that God gave to the Church. The Bible contains the words of life. The Bible contains the Gospel. Those churches that relegate the Bible to secondary status have abandoned the Christian faith.

The real problem is not contemporary churches that put more effort into the worship experience and less focus on the sacred scriptures. The real problem is a systemic dumbing down of "thus sayeth the Lord"! If a church properly teach the Word of God it makes it applicable (relevant) to all areas of life. The questions that Millennials are asking today are answered in God's Word, but there are too many pastors that have abdicated their positions as prophets (preachers) in pursuit of celebrity.

I read the article at the link provided. Where are these churches the author continually references? How about naming some names and some pastor's names? The author name-checks plenty of traditional evangelical leaders but doesn't out a single compromiser.

Examples:
1. Peek behind the curtain of some "progressive" or "hip" evangelical churches, and .... you'll find faith leaders encouraging young evangelicals to trade in their Christian convictions for a gospel filled with compromise.

2. Popular liberal evangelical writers and preachers tell young evangelicals that if they accept abortion and same-sex marriage, then the media, academia and Hollywood will finally accept Christians.

3. I can offer you is a glimpse into the world of a twenty-something who sees thousands of young evangelicals being spiritually and emotionally targeted on Christian university campuses, in college ministries and at churches nationwide by a growing liberal movement cloaked in Christianity.


OK, who are these people? I want names.

Providing names would invite challenge which the author wants no part of. Hence the broad generalizations and attempts to demonize young people and contemporary churches instead of just making his central point when speaking about the twisting of the gospel with compromise. (which is probably not that controversial on its own) It just looks like defensive projection to me. I have no doubt there are pastors out there that may do this but again it is hardly exclusive to contemporary churches. I wish this self defeating traditional vs contemporary feud would try to see the bigger picture and realize we are supposed to be allies. Like you said, if a church is failing with regard to preaching the gospel properly, write an article that states "I visited this church and found this issue." Name names, name churches. Even then I would tread lightly and make sure some sort of conversation takes place with the "flawed" churches leadership so they aren't just tossed to the wolves on the internet.

I think Reformed actually worded the meat of the article in a more productive manner than the author.
