Banned bump stocks with an EO, effectively making legal citizens criminals and his support for red flag laws. In terms of guns, Pres Trump is worse than his predecessor.
Bump stocks? Who really cares? They are basically a useless gimmick anyway. I think he was throwing a bone there, although he should know better than anyone, the left is never appeased, & will never say a good word about him PERIOD.
Red flag laws are, well, a red flag. Never should happen, anywhere, but it is happening in blue states. He may have been squishy when asked about it, I haven’t researched it, do you have specifics? Irregardless, we know what any democrat wants to do.........

Because as stupid as a bumpstock is, it is just an attachment. When Trump did that he effectively allowed any future president to ban any attachment at will by fiat. First bumpstocks, then scopes, then foregrips, then picatinny rails, then trigger types, etc.

Because of his sheer incompetence on this one issue, he opened the door for future Presidents to unilaterally ban firearm attachments. We may not care about bumpstocks, but what about 20 round mags? 30 round mags? 100 round drums? Triggers with lighter pull weights? Bipod? Red dots? Etc.

I dont think Trump is going to do any "bad" gun executive action while in office, but the problem is he set the precedent for any future Dem to do it. So, say we get Liz Warren in the White House. What damage can she now do with unilateral firearm attachment bans?

As far as Red flag laws:
"We must make sure that those judged to pose a grave risk to public safety do not have access to firearms and that if they do those firearms can be taken through rapid due process...that is why I have called for red flag laws, also known as extreme risk protection orders" - President Trump

Imagine if Hillary had won, today we would be without the second amendment no doubt.
I agree, but that doesn't negate the fact that Trump opened the door for any future President to take any of yours, or my attachments that are legally on our firearms, and unilaterally make that attachment illegal.

He was a fool on this issue and we need to hold him accountable for his mistake, but also for his victories such as immigration bans from dangerous countries and supreme court wins.

That's why I will vote for him again as overall he did more good than harm, but make no mistake, he did cause harm.

Your post makes me smile (in admiration). You are 100% correct on attachments, & no I don’t want to give mine up! Thanks for the quote on red flag. I wonder if this is something that could be put up on the government site for signing petitions?

I agree - also IMO he has acted too timidly with the "wall"issue which of which the optics have calmed down but is still an issue.

Yes i will vote for him again Deo Volante.

Bump stocks, to me, were a non issue. Couldn't care less that they are now banned. And he has signed onto no red flag laws. Why? There hasn't been one that doesn't blatantly violate due process.

As For Trump being worse than his predecessor concerning guns, that's one of the silliest remarks I've ever seen on this board, and I've been around a long time.

What did Obama do to our guns in the end? Nothing. A lot of talk, no action on the Federal Level, he failed lucky for us. The biggest action I can remember is that he stopped the importation of military surplus firearms, such as the M1, from overseas through an Executive Order.

Trump outright banned a firearm attachment. The E.O/DOJ Redefinition that he did made legal gun owners criminals. In my view banning a firearm attachment, and criminalizing a legal attachment via Executive Order > stopping foreign firearm imports.

I don't think it's silly at all to say he is worse than his predecessor when it comes to banning guns. He has succeeded in actually banning something where Obama always failed.

Yes

Fortunately you and I don't have to agree.
I don’t agree with you either on this comparison. I failed to address it initially, but to say Obama was better is ludicrous, just because he was too bone lazy to get it done, does not mean he was working for pro 2nd in any shape or form.
